Are you serious? If changing your own oil is too messy, I demand you leave WRXatlanta immediately, and never return. Or are you afraid a little oil might ruin your fresh manicure?
if you CAN'T change your own oil, then a WRX, SHIT a Subaru is NOT the car for you. there will be a time when you have to get your hands dirty. and the oil change is the basic of basics
Lolllllll For me, the only "too messy" would be accidentally not having the oil catcher in the right spot as it spews out and spilling all over the parking lot.
Gaskets won't be in until Monday :| So I'll be wrapping my turbo and helping out as best I can in the morning. Maybe do some fender braces if I have time.
Hahah. Also, hopefully the person who did the Front Lower Tie Brace write up knows the torque spec for the bolts on the subframe. I just asked a few minutes ago on the boards as someone PMed him/resurrected the thread. I wish I could afford more of the GTSpec parts.
putting it on TAF. (Actually believe it was faulty to begin with because I didn't even tighten it that much but that ruins my "do it right" point :hs: )
LOL at you demanding. Sorry, I live in an apartment, ain't no way I'm going to jack the car in a parking lot and have it spill everywhere. And oil has been changed today. Exactly. Where did I say that I can't? I choose not to. I've got cuts, bruises, black hands that couldn't wash off for days working on it.
I get pissed when I'm changing the oil in the yard and all is well.....until the wind blows and changes the direction the oil is flowing....
Why go through all that trouble when you can take it to a shop down the street, have them do it for 25 bucks. After buying the oil and time spent doing it, 25 bucks is a joke.
I'll step out on a thin branch here and say I agree w/ broken...I make too much money to lay on my garage floor and change the oil. That said, nobody ever touched my STi, less Ball, Nicad and Brett. Then again, I had enough money in that car to buy 4 well built bugeyes. My acura will never see me under it, inside of it, whatever. Hell, i didn't even know what the engine bay looked like until 3 months after i bought the car. Besides, dealership I bought it from gives 5 dollar oil changes...win edit: i'm agreeing in terms of my car...DD turd. Nobody ever changed the oil in the STi (or the land yacht) except me
Well when you live in the sticks like I do and the closest shop is 20 mins away doing it yourself is easier and quicker and you 'know' it's done right. My buddy/co-worker who has a bugeye had his oil changed at the Subaru dealership once....when he left work I saw puffs of blue smoke so I called him and said dude you burning oil. Upon investigation they added oil and never changed his filter.....he had 7 1/2 qts oil in that thing which I just don't understand how you screw up that much. Was he 2 qts low and they just added new oil (doubtful as he never has had oil consumption issues) or did they not pay attention to how much oil they put in (they use the 55 gallons to 'pump' oil from).
Hey guys, Just getting a definite number of ppl working on their cars, so we know how much space of the parking lot needs to be used. Please pm or post up what you are doing. Thanks dudes. LIST FOR PARKING LOT SPACE: 1. josh booth 2. Sparta 3. John 4. wagunz 5. dough *but willing to share space with wagunz 6. cMags 7. Broken 8. Megadeth2118 9. Matto357 10. K. Marx 11. Xan Rules
I'm pretty much willing to do anything on the car, BUT oil. I've taken my cars to same person for past 5 or so years, ever since i got my first car. I got my trust in him and I buy my own oil, he just jacks up the car, drains the old oil, puts in a new filter and adds my oil.
Maybe. If it doesn't fill up, I'll take one. All I really need to get installed is my Front Lower Tie Brace, and maybe springs, if anyone is up for helping me out.
I have my space for my car +1 guest that will be driving my old car (friend I sold it too) will be sharing the spot with me. We shouldn't be eating up the space for too long, so if someone needs it later on in the day that should be fine.
are you counting the spaces in order or every other? Might get kinda crowded if every space is taken and everyone is rubbing elbows between cars trying to wrench
Good point. Who says we have to stay inside the lines though? I'm sure spacing out a little bit wouldn't be a problem.
If you guys find a fsb for me I'll be doing that. If not I'll be putting on rear hardened sway bar mounts
Excellent thats what I need thanks for looking. On a side note - anyone in the douglasville, hiram, dallas, villa rica, carrolton, powder spring side of town....A few of us are meeting up at Wal-Mart in Hiram (at 278 and 92) to caravan up to Allpro. We will be meeting about 9am. Wheels up will be 930am. We will be on the far west side of the parking lot (close to behind where the Autozone is)
Ill be picking everything up tomorrow Unfortunately, Sams club doesn't open till 10am. I'll pick up 2 liters to get us through in the morning.
