    Subaru Engine Program

Due to the overwhelming successes of our current engine program, we have decided expanded our lineup.
In true TopSpeed fashion we have spent the last year developing and testing our newest versions of our famous SS1 and RR1 shortblocks.
We think with our current engine program we have a engine option to suit everyones needs.

Each one of the TSM motor options has been tested.
These motors are not outsourced to a machine shop to assemble, but rather assembled in house by our master engine builder.
Each process is double checked to ensure the customer is getting nothing but the highest quality, most capable Subaru engine on the market today.

    TSM SS1
    Street Series ONE
For the enthusiast that wants a sub 500 whp street car our SS1 (Street Series ONE) shortblock is just the ticket.
This motor has been tested in our 492awhp 2008 STI that was daily driven by our tuner Doug Wilks.
The engine has been to the track, the drag strip, and driven hard for over 20k miles now, and it still uses LESS than a half quart of oil per 3k miles.
We have these in countless customer cars running over 400awhp and they perform flawlessly.

    Engine Specifications.
Our engines are all built with tolerances that we have developed both through racing in the Redline time attack series and testing in our own personal cars.

Our SS1 short block starts out life as a fresh short block from Subaru with all matching bore sizes.
Everything is then checked and our custom TSM Spec CP pistons are installed in the bores using our race winning tolerances. *

    Engine Specs:

    -New Subaru 2.5L engine
    -CP TSM Spec Forged Pistons
    -Ceramic Coated Piston Crowns
    -Anti Friction Coating on Skirts
    -Forged and Nitrided EJ257 Crankshaft
    -Basic Oil Flow Improvement Modification

    TSM SS1 $2795

    TSM SS2
    Street Series TWO
We have been working with Cosworth for many years now and I think everyone knows that they have some incredible products.
After rigorous testing in one of our RRU (Road Race Ultimate) engines we decided to try some of their components in our Street Series motor.
Based on those results we present to you the SS2.
The same great quality you have come to expect in our SS1 but with Cosworth’s amazing pistons.

Our SS2 goes through the same processes as our SS1.
But instead of our CP Spec piston we use Cosworth’s latest pistons.
These pistons are amazingly light and because of there boxed design they are able to use a much smaller lighter wrist pin without sacrificing strength.

The ring gap specs for our SS2 are slightly different than our SS1.
We have found after several test motors that the Cosworth pistons work the best when setup a little different than the CPs.

The advantages of the SS2 over the SS1 are very simple.
The lighter piston makes for less rotating mass inside the motor, as well as less stress on internal parts.
We have also found that the Cosworth coated pistons are slightly quieter than the SS1 setup.
Oil consumption is about the same with both engines, however on higher HP cars the SS2 may use slightly less oil.

    Engine Specs:

    -New Subaru 2.5L engine
    -Cosworth Motorsports Pistons
    -Cosworth Skirt Coating
    -Ceramic Coated Piston Crowns
    -Forged and Nitrided EJ257 Crankshaft
    -Basic Oil Flow Improvement Modification

    TSM SS2 $3495

    TSM RR1
    Road Race ONE
The RR1 is the original TopSpeed race engine.
This is what we used to power our time attack car for the first two seasons.
These engines start with a seasoned block that we perform a 12 step oil flow improvement process on.
The next step is pinning the deck, this stabilizes the cylinder walls and prevents the flex that leads to cracked cylinder liners.
We then bolt the case halves together and install torque plates on both sides to replicate the stresses on the engine when its assembled1.
At that point the engine is bored and honed leaving a finish on each cylinder that is perfectly round allowing for optimum ring sealing.
Every one of these engines is hand assembled by our master engine builder.
We use nothing but the finest components in these engines.
TSM Spec CP pistons, carrillo rods, and a 2011 sti nitrieded crank makes up the light weight yet super strong rotating assembly.

    Engine Specs:
    - TSM Custom CP Pistons
    - Ceramic Coated Piston Crowns
    - Anti Friction Piston Skirt Coating
    - TSM 12 point oil system modification
    - Carrillo Connecting Rods
    - ACL Race Bearings
    - Bore and Hone using proprietary torque plate technique
    - TSM Custom Pinned Deck
    - TSM MLS Depth Oring Groove

    TSM RR1 $4995

    TSM RR2
    Road Race TWO
With the RR2 we are building on the legend that is the RR1, this is for the guys that want 600+ hp.
We perform all the same processes as our RR1 on our RR2 but we take it a step further and we install custom Darton sleeves in the bores for the ultimate in strength.
We finish this build off with Cosworth’s incredible pistons with ring gaps specific to the RR2.

    Engine Specs:
    - Cosworth Pistons
    - Cosworth Anti Friction Skirt Coating
    - Ceramic Coated Piston Crowns
    - TSM 12 point oil system modification
    - Carrillo Connecting Rods
    - ACL Race Bearings
    - Bore and Hone using proprietary torque plate technique
    - Custom Darton Sleeves
    - TSM MLS Depth Oring Groove

    TSM RR2 $6995

    TopSpeed RR-Ultimate
    The Ultimate Subaru Engine
When nothing but the best will do.
This Engine came about because one of the Race Teams we do support for wanted the best engine available.
We built one to test and it turned out to be the best Subaru engine we have ever built.

This engine starts as seasoned block halves that we perform our 12 point oil flow improvement process on.
We then sleeve the block halves with our custom darton sleeves.
We then hand deburr the entire casting and prep the engine for final machining.
In the final machining process we bolt both block halves together with torque plates on both sides to accurately replicate the load thats on the block when the heads are bolted on, then we bore and hone the cylinders.
This leaves us with a perfectly round bore that promotes optimum ring sealing.
As with all of our RR engines the block is Oringed with a MLS gasket specific O-ring height to ensure a perfect seal between the gasket and the Block.
These engines don't push coolant even under extreme circumstances. We use Arrow Precision cranks in these engines because of their incredible strength and their superior oil passage design.
We use the best rods available from Carrillo, these rods are without question some of the strongest rods available.
For the pistons we again chose to go with Cosworth, they are amazing strong and light, there is quite frankly nothing else on the market that comes close.
Each one of these engines is hand assembled by our Master engine builder and includes a build sheet so you know exactly what is in your RR-Ultimate.
As with all of our RR-Engines please call and speak with us before ordering so that we can assist you in getting the perfect engine for your Subaru.

    Engine Specs:
    - Cosworth Pistons
    - Cosworth Anti Friction Skirt Coating
    - Ceramic Coated Piston Crowns
    - TSM 12 point oil system modification
    - Carrillo Connecting Rods
    - ACL Race Bearings
    - Bore and Hone using proprietary torque plate technique
    - Custom Darton Sleeves
    - TSM MLS Depth Oring Groove

custom heads and head work for the next thread?

Yes Sir, We only offer a few head options. Most of the ported heads that are on the market just don't work. We like to keep it simple when it comes to Subaru Cylinder Heads.

Head port work doesn't work very well....on Subaru's cams and valves is where the magic happens :)

Don't get me wrong there are gains to be had by porting, its just that most people go about it wrong. Theres no need to make the ports signifigantly larger or reshape them in a big way. The key to Subaru heads is port velocity and the perfect valve job. I think you will see that reflected in our new head program. Ill have more info on it in a few days.

On a side note, I just fired up my personal RR1 Engine last night and it sounds amazing.
