I'm going to be taking a run Friday morning around 10:00 on the longer one of the routes on the maps page. http://wrxatlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2759 Nothing crazy, just want to have a little bit of fun and see what has changed with my car since the last time I've been up there (new tires and sways). Anyone that wants to join me is welcome. I know friday morning is a weird time but I doubt there will be any traffic up there.
180 is no joke...i've been doing it on the bike every weekend and i'm always scared shitless that i'll fall off the mountain on one of those sharp curves. there's barely any traffic up there at all...i've gone early on the weekend, and even in the afternoon on the weekend.
I went through Blood Mountain and Wolf Pen Gap on Monday. Road crews were patching the shoulders and mowing. Watch for any remaining loose asphalt and such. It was amazing to see what the tornadoes had done up there! Those are some of my favorite roads. I actually passed a tractor trailer on 180! I have no idea what he thought he was doing up there. I just hope he got passed those hairpins. Send me a PM with your contact info. I might bug out of work early! Got an exchange student at the office. Might bring him along as long as he does not get car sick! M- M-
I was up there on the 8th of this month. There was a cop sitting on the road that Blood Mountain cabins are on and he nabbed one of my guys so be careful. And BTW - 180 is one hell of a road. Its a blast Are you meeting at Wal Mart in Dahlonega? I may try and join you if I can scrape up the money for gas and push around a few plans. I've been itching to go back up there again.
Be warned, this is bearing down upon N. GA http://southernworthersee.com/ The schedule starts 5pm friday, but there might be folks heading up early
Had a blast all by myself. It was actually nice to be able to go at my own pace. But there are some GREAT roads up there for sure. Not a single cop spotted, very little traffic. Saw a caravan of hondas coming up as I was heading down. Good times.
That was close to what I was talking to you about this morning. Here is the last one I drove (the map is from doing it on a bike). http://app.strava.com/rides/331722
