so i was one of the casualties of the hail shit storm last month, and after going to artcraft i've learn that paintless dent removal will be expensive.
arcraft said the total to repair my car would be $4000+
i've found roofs on car-part.com for cheap and local too, but is it a viable option?($ labor and retaining structural integrity)

$4K? for that price you could get the AMS carbon roof panel installed.

    it includes roof/hood/entire drive side.
i may go with a cf hood...save on paint?

If you leave your car outside all the time it would be a waste of money with the carbon. It always turn to shit after a year or two.

I think $4,000 is a reasonable quote for a professional paint job. There are other places you can do go that will do it for much less, but you certainly get what you pay for. I'd say its time to put a light bar on the front, skid plate underneath and start going off road :)

Is it expensive to re-clear the Carbon once it gets all nasty?
It does look pretty bad though after awhile.

It's a wise idea that for any real CF products to take it to a body shop and have them wet sand it and then apply a good automotive clear on it. Then keep it clean and waxed and it will stay good for a very long time.

It's the cheapo gel resin that causes the whitish oxidation.

artcraft shot down the idea of replacing the roof, it'd be hard to have one properly cut at a junkyard so i guess its back to PDR

My shop up in Chattanooga has been doing ALOT of PDR work!!!! PDR saves on time and money for both the insurance company and the repair shop, over replacing or fixing the dings! Which ever way is cheaper, of course your insurance company will want to go!
If you do get some carbon fiber......hood and or roof skin.....i would highly suggest having it sanded down and UV cleared....at least 3-4 coats of clear! My shop uses PPG 894....which is a show car quality, high end clear that lasts! If you have any questions feel free to hit me up
