Hi, I just purchased my first WRX, built by All Pro Subaru (Huzzah!) on Monday. I am loving the car and have wanted a wagon since I first saw one before their US release in an issue of Super Street in 2001.

    FINALLY.

Guys, no one understands how many nights I have dreamed about this car, and it is finally mine. I wake up in the night looking out the window making sure it's still there. I'm a freak and obsessed.

Enough of that, just have one quick question:

On any other car I have had-- On the keyfob when I click "Lock" or "Unlock" I get some kind of visual/audible response. Whether it be the blinkers flashing or a horn, something. With mine, I get nothing. It functions correctly, locks and unlocks with ease... Just no sound or light.

Is that some setting that the previous owner disabled? Is there a way to re-enable or is that just standard?

    Thanks!

On my 04 WRX, if it gets the lock signal 3 times fast it chirps the horn, I think the lights also flash once every time it gets the lock signal.

IIRC to turn on/off the horn chirp hold down the two buttons on the remote for at least 2 sec (while the door is closed and unlocked)

    Is this the white wagon?

Yep. If it is no longer on the back of the fob (like its been rubbed off), it should be in the manual. I just checked one of my keys and here's what it has to say...

Buzzer Chirp On/Off: (1) Press [UNLOCK] once; (2) Press and [UNLOCK] & [LOCK] for 2 seconds.

My wife just got a 2011 subaru and I recently tasked myself with disabling the chip from arming/disarming the car via keyless entry. I will let the procedure speak for itself. Hats off to whoever at subaru came up with this procedure!:rofl::rofl:

Good Lord! Hey, any word on turning off the seatbelt alarm on the new subaru? Our 2011 Forester is RELENTLESS!! Baby's screaming in the back, dropped his bottle-- Unfasten the seatbelt and boy.... Are you in for a treat.

From the legacy owners manual 1-15,
It is possible to cancel the warning operation that follows the 6-second warning after turning ON the ignition switch. When the ignition switch is
turned ON next time, however, the complete sequence of the warning operation resumes. For further details about canceling the warning operation, please contact your SUBARU dealer.

    EDIT: just found this

Turn ignition to ON, lock an unlock seatbelt 20 times within 30 seconds, turn ignition to OFF.
Some have said you need to then repeat the whole thing, but I would try just one set first and see if that works. It might be that if you did it right the first time, then in doing a second set you will mistakenly reenable the chime.

    LOL Subaru,

want to disable the arm/disarm chirp? stick the key in and out of your ignition repeatedly.
want to disable the seat belt warning? stick the buckle in and out of your seat belt repeatedly.
