:| Happened this morning. No injuries. Car is not driveable. Claims Dude. -I can schedule an adjuster to come to your home to complete an initial inspection if you would prefer. -Once you determine where you want the repairs to be completed, we will make arrangements with the body shop to have it towed to them. Normally the body shop will pay for the tow and then we will reimburse them. -If we do an initial inspection at your home, we will pay you at that time. If you choose to have the vehicle repaired at a later date and the body shop finds additional/hidden damage, we will pay them directly for that damage. If we get the Subaru to the body shop first (instead of doing the initial inspection at your home), then we will pay the body shop directly. Thanks, Claims Dude Progressive
I voted to get the initial inspection at the house. Not sure why they would try and pay you on the spot, there is ALWAYS more damage than the adjuster can find, ALWAYS. Assuming you are not at fault, take it to the best rated shop in your area and have it fixed properly their insurance MUST pay for everything as well as depreciation. They will likely offer you money to sign a waiver if you were not at fault as well.
Depending on the door, that looks to be around $5000 - $8000 worth of damage. Especially if the rear quarter panel needs to be cut and replaced. PM me and I can tell you how I know. My insurance guarantees any repairs done at "any one of their approved shops", for the life of the car. So option 1 is to have them cut you a check, you take it to the shop and any other damage is covered. Option 2, let them take it to the shop and they cover everything. Sounds like I would go with #2, just to make everything easier. Can't drive the car...why wait until a later date?
That sucks. What happened? I don't know who around here specializes is Subaru body work. I would send it to someone who knows Subarus inside out
Sadly I don't know any shop in this area that specializes in Subaru's except SOK. Is that even an option to send it to SOK for body work and all that? What Happened: Well according to my citation, I was going too fast for conditions. I was going below speed limit around a very slick corner. The car had a linear collision with another vehicle. No injuries however...Shit happened in slow motion and it was as if the cars were pressed together. No broken glass no airbags deployed. There's more damage on my vehicle and my car is undriveable although I crippled it home. The steering on the car is all fucked up. I don't know if its from frame damage or something else but the car was swerving back and forth badly.
Your car is a unibody. Your control arms or struts are probably bent. Did you cross a median or something?
Most dealerships will outsource the collision work. Call SOG or SOK and find out who they use and suggest this to the adjuster.
the rear impact looks just like what I'm dealing with right now. Do yourself a favor and have the adjuster do the appraisal at the shop where you want to get it fixed. Apparently it's all about supplements.
They won't consider this car totaled? That panel is not replaceable. How will they fix it? Cut it out and weld in new metal?
They will cut near the top of the C-Pillar, near the top of the window and weld it. If it's done right, you'll never see it.
I bet that your car could very easily be totaled. I had less damage on my 04 and it ended up costing my insurance almost $20K to fix it once it was all said and done. The first estimate was around $8k but the more they pulled off, the more damage they found. I would suggest having it towed and then explain to the body shop that you want them to find as much wrong before they begin working on the car.
My 2004 was totalled. The damages wasn't really that much. New doors, new bumper, new front control arms, and painting would very likely have gotten it back on the road. I all all the parts too in black....just used it as an excuse to get rid of a bad money pit.
Update: Went with option 1. The adjusters are coming over today to assess the damage and give an estimate. I have 2 claims ~One for hail damage from a couple weeks prior ~The other from the more recent accident seen in the pics above.. Lets see how this plays out.
Verdict :| The adjuster believes it is repairable. Hail Damage Claim Estimate $925 - (PDR) Collision Damage Estimate - $4700 I feel like someone slapped me in the face. So the next question is this, Artcraft or Magnum?
sorry i didn't see this sooner. you don't have to accept the Adjuster's evaluation. But if you want to see if its totalled, you have to do all the legwork yourself to make your case. first, get 3 full estimates on everything, and I mean everything, getting fixed from the accident only. Ignore the hail for now. Next, get an offer from dealerships and KBB/edmunds on similar value/examples of you car in stock form. you'll need to bring all that to your adjuster and ask him to reasses. But as soon as you cash a check, you usually have comitted to what they offered.
K update time.. The car is currently at Artcraft. The car has been torn down by the shop and reinspected by a new adjuster and the estimate went up a by $2000 or so. Looks like the QP is definitely being replaced. I just got that info today..gonna have a talk with the ins adjuster tomorrow.
payout on your car should be around 11K depending on mileage. I wouldn't be surprised if they totaled it as its reaching 7K in damages.
naw they sent me a check but I have no plans on touching it. I was hoping they'd total it but these adjusters are bent on fixing it
Guys thanks for all the advice. The car is fixed for the most part. Artcraft did a great job on replacing the Qrt Panel, doors and the fender and also matching the paint. It feels so good to have the car back. Now for another insurance related question... Diminished Value: Since my car has been in the accident I know its not worth what it once was. For argument's sake let's say it was worth 11,500 based on market value. After over 7k worth of repairs what do you guys think the car is worth now? Next up, is it worth it to go after the insurance company for diminished value? Anyone ever done this before? Talk to me...
A few years ago someone hit my Taurus. About a month after everything was said and done I got a check in the mail for diminished value....I didn't even have to ask for it. Call the insurance and talk to them about it. Do your research about how much the value has dropped after the accident.
I've been reading up on it and realized that Georgia is one of the few states where the insurance company pretty much has to compensate you for the diminished value of the car. Hopefully this process easy..I'll call the insurance company some time this week. Any more thoughts on this?
Soo..they offered me $68 for diminished value smfh Not sure if I posted this before..but the repair bill ended up being over $7,500
