I want to possibly by a new short throw shifter for an '05 STi. Looking to get a brand new one and would like some recommendations. If possible, I want it to be an upgrade from the factory one. Are there better ones than factory, and if so, what do some of you recommend.

    Thanks

Most on here will probably recommend Kartboy SS. I have one and have never had any issues. Much shorter throws than the stocker.

I also have the kartboy. I've had it on there so long, I can't imagine going back to the stock one.

I'll look in to kartboy. What about the reverse lockout?

How about Perrin short shifter. Forged charges $89 and includes upgraded poly shifter bushings. Adjustable throw from 10-50%, and retains reverse lockout. I know kartboy is highly recommended but this is a good price

    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2.1; en-us; ADR6400L 4G Build/FRG83D) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

I agree with b_reel, but I'm bias as a cousin who had a lot of perrin parts on his car had a lot of fail associated with them. Have no clue if that's a rare case, but the kartboy is amazing just the right height, and be sure to get the bushings as it got rid of all the slop
