Just posting up this to see if anyone else has had a similar issue and if they found a fix. Ironically enough...the angle of my driveway is not that bad. However, the angle of attack in relation to the road is terrible. It creates a very low spot at the bottom of my driveway due to the road being higher than I think it should be (seems like drainage overkill). My stock 2011 scrapes with the lip heading straight on and I have to take an extreme angle to even get an inch or two of clearance on a driveway that looks like it shouldn't have any issues at all. Right now...I am getting the new wheels put on tomorrow and I am starting to look at suspension packages to match the wheels and the way I want the car to drive, but if I can't figure out a solution for this...going any lower is not an option. Extreme Angle Shots (rear passenger side tire is actually off the ground) Clearance at extreme angle Straight on (w/reference of dip in road/driveway) Any ideas?
Me: Hey honey...pack your shit. We have to move. Wife: Why? Me: My car can't make it up the driveway. Wife: Sucks to be you!
extreme angle doesn't look that bad. The sti with the pink wheels had to do that at every speed bump in my neighborhood. When you get there... then you might want to worry
In all seriousness other than filling in the street (your hoa would love that) I don't really know what you could do short of re-doing your driveway. Can you park on the street?
Wheels get here tomorrow and any suspension work is going to cut that gap quickly I think. Parking on the street is not an option thanks to the HOA and the median that we have in front of our house. Filling might be the only option if I can get that passed...
I've got the same woe's with going up my driveway. I had to raise my car a bit, and I also come in at a angle (really close to parallel). The suggestion of filling in the approach with concrete would probably be awesome, and hopefully your HOA approves it, unlike mine
Its pretty and all.. but lose the lip? Or would you still scrape? Other than altering your driveway, I don't see many options.
Read the third line/paragraph in the original post. New wheels are going on tomorrow and suspension packages are being looked at. The lip is the least of my worries pretty soon.
DUde, just learn how to come in your driveway at an angle. You should see my Legacy going up my driveway. Inside rear wheel always lifts off the ground. Man Up!
keep it slow and angle it. it would help if you filled in the end of your driveway with a bit of concrete (between your driveway and the road). or you can follow the same route that most of the people on DI do haha
Ironically enough...yes it does in comparison to redoing my driveway! "Honey! I found the fix to the driveway issue!"
That really doesn't look any worse than mine. Myself and most everybody else that has gone up my driveway 3 wheel it...some scrape. Not much you can do unless you find that magical angle. GL with your situation.
you should just 'upgrade' to Slades house. *I say 'upgrade' because I don't know what your house looks like
Buy as set of KWv3's and add in this system... problem solved http://www.kw-suspension.com/us/kw_hls.php
yah i just looked, its ridiculous, and I'm glad it is, because I think i can fit them on the tarmac 2's
A friend of mine had the same issue with a down sloped drive, even my stock obs and legacy would scrape. He ended up getting a set of drainage ditch bridges, basically a big rubber filler for the ditch, with a gap for drainage to be functional. If your hoa would allow it, pm me and ill get the brand name for ya. Sent from my Evo Shift using Tapatalk
