Well got a new .22. So i was in the range shooting the mozzy, wanted to try a GSG 1911-22 becuase the 1911 is the end frame i want to be in. Also wanted try the ruger mark 3 and see how i liked it. I ended up falling in love with the GSG, ive been playing with double taps and running through a mag quickly and those type actions really show a triggers short comings. The GSG shined, beautiful trigger, no failures, even less recoil, and i shot tighter groupings all round. As i was totaling my bill i asked them what i needed to do to trade in the mozzy on and bring the GSG home. They said i couldnt take the GSG bc it was their rental, but they had 2 new sig 1911-22's they had just gotten in and that they were rebranded sig's. Steap sticker price @ $420, but a decked out 1911 pistol is well worth it. So i wanted to see what they would give me for trade in on the mozzy, they gave me exactly what i paid for it($275) hahaha. So i couldnt pass up that part, they also gave me the range and rental time for free that day. So for $140 OTD i am a very proud owner of new SIG 1911-22, after 200 rounds there was only one failure and it was a failure to eject. AWESOME for a brand new off the shelf gun. Very Very happy.imp: I was orginally just going to buy my 1911 of choice and just buy a conversion kit, but the kits run almost as much as this entire gun cost, and ther is no headache of having to convert the gun every time i go to and from the range.
Nice! Been looking to pick up a plinker for range time. Looking for a good deal on a 10/22 or 15/22 at the moment.
how much is the conversion kit should you want to put it back to .45acp? i almost pulled the trigger on a sig p226 in .22 that came with the free conversion kit for 9mm...thinking it was in the $600 range, which is cheaper than the 9mm p226 bnib gun looks really good...nicad is spot on w/ his 1911, swears up and down by it
to each their own...i don't mind the 1911, but i don't want to pay for .45acp and i like double stack magazines, and the thumb safety isn't my favorite (though it's not bad at all on the 1911), hence the sig preference. I also like having a de-cocker. Nicad and Ball both have awesome 1911's, though you in hater mode today?
I dont know if conversion kits exist to convert from 22 ->.45 acp? Btw i held this sucker up to a custom $1500 springfield 1911 in the gun case, same grip, same physical trigger lever, same extended hand guard, various other bits the guys behind the counter pointed out. Basically that it was a loaded 1911 full of features that will feel every bit like a normal .45 while not shooting. I dont plan on buying a conversion kit even if one exists, my next handgun is going to be stupid nice 1911, something i would pass down the generations of family and would hopefully last for a very long time and drive nails.
I remember the first time I shot a 1911... I rented a S&W .45 and shot consistently better than my handgun I had been shooting for over a year. I have been pining for my own since. Nice pick up! I had no idea you could get a .22 1911 - I am kind of surprised that there is enough powder to cycle that huge slide. Shooting that will be stupid cheap though! I don't know if it is the same for yours, but I have a Sig (rifle) that HATES super cheap ammo (like Wolf)... jams it every friggin time.
Shooting cheap ammo in pretty much in semi auto .22 is pretty much a no-no. I only shoot CCI mini mag's so far, after 200 rnd ive only had one failure to eject from a brand spankin new gun. Thats not shabbie at all. Ive cleaned it after my 200rnds. I will be now shooting with out cleaning until i start to get consistent failures so i know what my threshold is(atleast while new), and then ill start trying some of the cheaper ammo's. As far as the slide, the slide spring is tiny haha.
