When I come to a stop I hear a popping noise coming from the drivers side suspension. It seems like it happens when the weight shifts to or from the front. It will happen with the steering wheel straight and it will do it with the wheel slightly turned left or right. It just started about 2 weeks ago. Its not the strut for sure. I lubed up the sway bar bushings and made sure the endlinks were tight. Still making noise. Any thoughts?
Checked the bolts on everything and it's still popping. The clamp on the inside cv axel boot was loose i put a new clamp on last night. Wondering if thats te culprit maybe ot slid off a little? Guess next step is the stealership.
That's what I'm thinking but it's not happening when I'm turning at all. Only when coming to a stop and the weight shifts to the front.
lower ball joint. it probably happens when you hit a bump too. just to much nvh to notice. if it's an axle it should pop while turning and if it's a wheel bearing try coasting and turning the wheel slightly in either direction to see if you can hear an oscilating sound. if not. i say ball joint
mine pops or clicks when i go into a turn, ive changed axles, a hub bearing, suspension, and a ball joint. i remember reading on nasioc somewhere a while back that this is a common problem.
Its getting a little louder. Im really not driving much. Gonna take it to the shop on tuesday. Im thinking its the ball joint because coasting and turning the wheel doesnt make any sound. To my knowledge theres not an anti lift kit. Bought the car used so ya never know but this has never happened before and Ive had the car since 2008. Honestly it all started about a week after I replaced a blown strut which was also on the front left. I noticed the popping then noticed the clamp on the inside boot was loose.
since you changed that blown strut, maybe the spring isnt seated right and its shifting on the top hat or collar? i see that your location is columbus, what shop do you have work on your car?
This.... Make sure the tail of the spring is sitting down where its supposed to, also make sure all the rubber pads are between the springs and the spring seats.
Yeah I'm in Columbus. I take it to willy herald. I agree that this is a possibility but I drove on it for a few weeks with no popping at all. Is it possible the spring shifted after it was installed? The rubber pads are definitely on there and I'm 99% sure the bottom is where it should be. Well at least it was. Like I said it was fine for a few weeks then this sound started out of no where.
