Is anyone interested in putting together a Mountain Run to Helen this month for Octoberfest. For at least the past 3 years, we have had a Mountain Run to Helen during the month of October. I am very interested in going this year, and would like to get a group together for the ride. I would like to suggest Saturday Oct 22 if anyone is interested.

Yea traffic directly through Helen is pretty crazy on the main strip. The trick is to get onto the parallel back streets and park. I'll be out of town the 22nd
If people are going to be out of town on the 10-22, we could move it to the following week. I would just like to go before the end of the month, and next weekend is out for me as I will most likely be going to Durhamtown Plantation for some Dirt Bike/ATV fun. I plan on taking the bike to Helen if we do this.
if you do it the last weekend in September (like we did), you get all the Octoberfest w/o all the BS. Joe
Kind of hard to do the last weekend of September when we are already in October. Can definitely make a note of that for next year though.
i'll be camping up in Rabun co. next weekend. probably wont have another weekend off till the 19th of november
I understand bro. I was just making a comment. It's not technically Oktoberfest but all the bars are setup for it...all the cops are out enforcing it. You just don't have to deal w/ the huge crowds which means more beer, available rooms at the hotel, etc. Maybe next year. Here is what we called it: http://thebdac.blogspot.com/2011/08/ride-to-river-to-wreck-your-liver.html "ride to the river to wreck your liver" Joe
So, are we shooting for next Saturday? Does someone who usually plans Mountain Runs want to start a clean thread to put together details?
If you guys need somewhere to rally up, you can use my place. I'm 20 min from Helen. And while you're here turn a wrench and drink a beer!
