Like I said else where... If Steve and company didn't invent a category, they would give a category a kick in the pants to get it moving at a rapid pace of development and innovation. Love him or hate him, he helped shape the world we live in today. RIP Steve, I don't know many that won't miss you.
Thanks for taking the mouse from Xerox and bringing it to the masses, thanks for the great movies through Pixar, thanks for talking the major labels into selling us music without the CD, thanks for giving us an OS with a BSD kernel, thanks for changing the way we look at cell phones, thanks for all the toys! RIP Mr. Jobs "Macintosh....... Power to crush the other kids"
Thanks to Steve for the very PC's we are using this moment no matter what the OS is... They would not exist as we know them without him(and The Woz obviously)
Even an Apple hater like myself can have nothing but respect for the man. RIP Steve! Now, I wonder if this is going to temporarily deflate Apple stock prices? If so, I may need to buy some up...
I think the Stock dropped like 4% at the announcement of his death. Will there be a longer term downward trend is what I am curious to see.
steve jobs was an incredibly huge asshole. the man denied his first child out of wedlock (claiming sterility) and forced it to be raised by welfare checks, stopped apple charitable contributions, ripped off steve wozniak, etc
been trying not to say anything think "too soon?", but well said. He did a lot and for that, it's sad he's gone. However, I almost threw up in my mouth when I read the comments above that make him sound like the savior of the world...
It's sad that he's gone, he's done a lot for the technology industry. I just wonder how many people know what he did as apposed to the people that just say "RIP Steve Jobs, that guy that made my iPhone"
and every successful entrepreneur was an asshole to someone along the way. you have to have selfish tendencies to be successful in a capitalist economy. PERIOD
They don't have to be selfish assholes, I'll support the companies where the ceo's care about people. As justin said, http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2011/08/29/the-mystery-of-steve-jobss-public-giving/ So why did these successful entrepreneur's not have selfish tendencies? http://givingpledge.org/#enter http://www.usatoday.com/money/companies/management/2010-08-04-wealthy-charity-pledge_N.htm There's a line between selfish and running a strong efficient business that doesn't waste money.
I found it funny that TNT played Pirates of Silicon Valley last night. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0168122/
Between the iphone/android talk on the other forum, this, and people in general at my work being ipad lovers, I can't wait for the next art student to walk up to me and say their apple is better for graphics design. Should be a fun conversation.
http://www.minyanville.com/special-...n-jobs-business-icons-rich/8/31/2010/id/29768 Takes a total loser to deny a child all the way to teenage age. Her and her mom had to suffer and do without all that time. Pathetic.
I've always known the man was an arrogant asshole. He was private because he could hardly keep the skeletons from falling out of the closet. So what I still appreciate the good things he did. Seems to be pretty balanced to me. Take the total of what he did from 1976 to now that was good (Apple/Pixar/Next) and he was equally as bad.
