Has any one done a trunk swap on a GR sedan before? I may be meeting an STi owner for a trunk swap this weekend and i dont know what tools i will need and what we need to swap. (Besides trunk/wing itself)

not sure on the GR, but gonna assume its the same as the GD. make sure you swap the shocks as well as the trunks themselves. the shocks on an STi are stronger to lift the heavier trunk

hammer, then of course a bigger hammer when the first one isn't big enough. Why don't just look at your trunk?

Prolly a 12mm box wrench and a 12mm socket wrench. Make sure you swap springs. Yours won't open and his will sling it up super fast if you don't swap the springs.

FYI the 'springs' aren't really springs....they are bent rods that run lengthwise and give a given amount of tension to pop the trunk open.

Also pay attention to the third brake light. You have or may not have one whereas he may or may not have one. Not a must but nice to swap along as well so you have the right lights.

Here's what I would do. swap trunks, grab his keys and drive off...that way you have your trunk and his STi!

    It's a win-win

do the 2011's even have the keyhole in the trunk? Or is it strictly via keyfob or latch by the driver seat.

    doesn't look like it

Strictly key fob or from inside.
but the actual latch that latches onto the car should be the same correct?

correct...that's actually just a cable that you undo when taking the trunk off.

    What trunk locks?

    FTZ ^.^

I think he is referring to the actual key lock on the trunk, you know, the spot you would put the key if accessing from outside the car. Wouldn't it be funny if someone swapped trunks with someone, forgot to switch the key cylinder, and couldn't get into their trunk anymore because the key they have goes to the old trunk that is now on someone else's car.

Dude I'm not that stupid....it was a blanket statement. The 2011's (which is what Jchon has) don't have trunk key holes ;) Least the ones at Hadwin White don't.
