Anyone running BC Coilovers?

I'm contemplating on buying a set for Christmas. I've read reviews on other forums, but wanted opinions from people on here. They seem decent for the price. Has anyone ordered a set from the internet which included all the camber plates? Are they a direct fitment in '05 sti. If anyone is running a set, positive or negative feedback would help. Thanks

I have them on my Legacy with custom spring rates and I think they are by far the best coil overs I have owned for the money.

I have a set on my 06 Sti with camber plates all around. I had them since may and they have been great so far. For the money it's definitely worth it.

If you buy a set do yourself a favor and get the ER series. having separate rebound and compression makes a world of difference if you actually push your car. If just wanting coilovers to just say so then the BR series will be just fine.

How is the ride on BC's are they bouncy like most coilovers?

I have a set for my 05' STi. I bought them in June of this year and just had them installed in August. So far close to 2000 miles on them. They were stiff for the first month and a half, then they softened up a little. Ride quality is not bad as compared to the stock suspension. A little stiffer but not as bouncy as the stock rear ones. Bumps are somewhat more pronounced but great for attacking those corners and curvy roads. I don't have it on the softest setting but they are comfy as compared to any of the Teins I've installed in the past cars. Going over bumps cause the shocks to squeak a little. They only squeak when you go over big hard bumps. Small bumps, quiet as a kitten. I've checked out the coilovers very often for just a quick inspection for any leaks or loose bolts. Everything seems fine and fitment is perfect. No modifications needed. Brake lines fit and all bolts and holes line up perfectly.

I'm actually taking these off whenever I have time but they will be up for sale locally and then they'll go off to the vultures at NASIOC. Let me know if you'd be interested. They are still new looking, I'll have to clean them up a little once removed. I'm looking into getting Ohlins or ASTs the reason I'm selling these. I'm prepping for Autoxing next year. Gonna learn how to drive for a change...LOL!

Oh, btw, you are more than happy to come along for the ride to see how they feel before purchasing.

i have run them before. not child friendly. you can't know how stiff they are until you actually ride on them. much stiffer then tein coilovers. but they are great grip driving coilovers. i moved on from them to sti struts with rce yellows which were much more comfortable, for the last several months i have been rallycrossing so i'm back to stock struts, forgot how cadillac like the factory stuff was!

Man I've had mine for 100k! Lol I love them. I drive the car everywhere and the coilovers really ride nice and perform well.

BR series? did you ever rebuild them?

I was going to purchase the ER series but importimage talked me out of them. He said they are really meant for track use only. There is nothing comfortable about them.

If you want softer there is a vendor on NASIOC that can revalve them for swift springs. You could buy mine and send them off to that company. Iirc they are in Florida. I'll have to find the link and send it to you.

I'm running them. They are probably the best choice for the price range. They ride very well when on soft settings and firm up nicely when you dial them up. Having said that they ARE coilovers so they are stiffer, a bit bouncier on the highway etc.

no, if you want softer don't buy coilovers. that's a waste of money. paying nearly $1000 for coilovers then probably another $200-$500 to have someone revalve/put new springs on them??? that makes absolutely no logical sense. get a nice set of springs and shocks. coilovers are meant for the track/aggressive street/mountain use. if you're not ready for a rough daily ride, dont buy them.

What kind of springs and shocks you recommend if i want slight comfort but wanna be pretty damn low with minimal wheel gap?

    S-Techs with Konig Yellows.

    I think... Lol.

S-Techs will make your car really low.

either Koni Yellow or the koni insert with RCE springs. stay away from anything Tein.

Just curious, but why do you say to stay away from Tein?

for some reason, the Subaru's don't typically work very well with Tein springs.

Ok. You're talking just springs? I had Tein SS-P coilovers on my '08 and loved them.

yeah their coilovers are pretty awesome when setup properly. but the springs specifically suck for subarus

Send the Factory struts off to Feel Suspension and do Swift springs. Better ride comfort than factory and it's a little lower.

If you buy the coilovers used then you won't spend $1000 on just the coilovers.
I'm not looking for $900. Make an offer I can't refuse. We'll have to come within reason. As mentioned, you can ride in my car to see. If you like it, then buy them. There's your test drive. :)

I would be interested in your BC's should BC2003 decide to pass; I'm not going to try and buy something from under anyone.

Well, first come first serve. He's looking to buy them around christmas. If you can come up with the cash, then they are yours. If no one wants them locally, then they'll go to the vultures in NASIOC. I'll give it a couple of weeks here and then it's off to the big boards.

I would hope you have hub conversion 5x114.3 and everything else to allow an 05' STi suspension to fit. LMK.

    amen!
i had tein s-techs on mine for about 6 months and was the worst thing ive ever done to the car. i actually upgraded to bc's which was one of the best moves i made.

Agreed, BC's were definitely better then my tein S-Techs springs on stock struts...:(

Well if you've already worked out an agreement with him then I'll sit back on the bench until then. What kind of price were you looking to get for them? Feel free to PM me if you want.

I'm running Swift springs on my BC's, by far the best purchase made suspension wise.

I really want a set of RCE T2's but with me in the process of buying my first house, I can't spend that kind of cash right now. :(

Nope no agreement yet. No PM's from anyone about the suspension. Will PM you.

Was the ride that bad on those springs?

It was a little stiffer than stock and was harsh on the bumps. Hated it. Swift Springs FTW!!!

You are going to bounce with any linear rate spring you put on a car which is what almost all coil overs come with

I was less than thrilled on my cross country road trip a few years back in a bugeye on BC coilovers. My vote is to simply stick with a quality strut/spring combination and not look back.

My WRX used to have Milo's custom sprung Tein's on it and those Tein's absolutely SUCKED compaired to my Tokico DSpec w/ RCE blacks. I couldn't take an off ramp without lifting an inside tire because I would run out of travel.

It all boils down to what you are doing with the car. For any DD I would recommend a superb strut/spring combo over most any coilover if comfort and salvagability of organs is a concern.

I could consider a strut/spring combo setup instead of coilovers. Currently running stock BBS's, and will run 245/40 tires. I like the coilovers idea b/c they're easy to adjust, if i decide to get aftermarket rims in the future. I know you can get adjustable struts, but aren't coilovers specifically manufactured to be adjusted to your preference(s). Being low is the look I'm going for, and if i switch rims, my height can be easily adjusted. I know what the coilover look looks like as far as wheel gap. Anyone have pics of their strut/springs setup?

By the way checkout this guy's setup: http://www.stancenation.com/2010/10/07/one-bad-scoob/

Well being that torches have been taken to springs since the last century I doubt it's going away anytime soon.

You might as well buy my 18x10s and BC BR coilovers then, if you're looking for that hella flush look. I'm done with that look. Took me 100 miles on those sets of wheels and then i was like..ok I'm done now. LOL! And I used to drive a 240.

I just posted that link b/c its the first subi I've seen run 11" wide rims. Hella flush looks good, but its not what I'm going for
