The old '04 is seemingly on it's last legs but still manages to run strong at RA. That stupid HD Hero wasn't recording half the time so I missed alot of stuff. Would it hurt them to put an LED on the back of it?

Some 1:43s and a 1:42 in the last session I got on cam. That's probably the best I've run, despite the cold track. I really wanted to catch that red GT3.

Fuel pickup probs on the last session, even with about 1/3 tank. Motor sounds strange now under power. 70K of hard running and it still feels strong, at least after I reset the ECU at the beginning of a session lolz.

3 vids here, uploaded 1080p if you have the pipes:

Well if you want to spend your money wisely, Cup cars are about to get real cheap now that the season is over. It would be better investment than trying to fix the Subaru and Gene would be one of a few around here to talk to about getting in one.

Honestly that would be pretty bad ass, that car is wickedly fast but I'd need a trailer and storage etc.

In an earlier session me and an E36 M3 had to swerve around him after he lost it in turn 6 and was sitting across the track. He did a nice burnout doughnut to straighten back out after we passed.

Nice, what have you done to your car, motor and suspension wise? Interested in your setup. Car is quiet.

    Quiet can be deceiving.

That's why I'm interested. Me likes silent but deadly.

Motor: Perrin inlet, K&N, Invidia catless DP, VF48, AP V2, protune. I'm running the stock catback. My trans fluid is replaced with whatever that stuff is everyone uses...
Suspension: Whiteline 29mm (front full stiff, rear medium), RCE black springs, kartboy rear diff bushings
Brakes: Braided lines, Carbotech XP10 front/XP8 rear, RBF600
Misc: Kartboy shifter bushings (full kit) cured problems downshifting to 4th
    Tires/wheels: SSRs with 255 Nitto NT01
    Interior: Bride replica seat

It's TOO quiet actually, it's very hard to hear my own revs when downshifting into corners just with the wind/tire noise, impossible if there is a loud car nearby. I need to get a catback so I can hear where my revs are. Right now I have to just trust my right foot.

I have a long list of to-dos, including a motor rebuild, safety, weight redux, brake cooling, struts/bushings and measures to combat the oil pickup and fuel pickup issues.

At the speed I'm running at now, I get problems with losing fuel pickup through turn 12, piston knockback (2004 5x100 hubs :( ) so I have to tap after turn 1, the esses, 6/7 and 12 (pretty much everywhere lolz), brake heat in hot months, and the fear of hitting a wall with no cage/harness.

I keep thinking about another car, Vette, E36 etc, but the fact is I really love driving the STi. The faster you go, the more it behaves to it's rally-car roots with trail-brake oversteer etc, and it's soooo forgiving. With my current setup it always feels balanced on the NT01s, the drama is always controllable, and if I push it too hard I can correct it with some gentle brake/throttle input. I really love driving this car despite it's motor issues. It's all just a $$ issues at this point.

Cool, I like it. My setup is not that far off. I'm still running the stock exhaust as well with a stage 1 tune, dp, APS inlet, stock airbox with dropin filter, BC coilovers urethane bushings for stock sways for now. One day, I'll be able to get out there again at RA.

You should. I did other tracks before RA 'cause I have a respect for its unforgiving nature. Once I ran RA though, I've been hooked and don't really want to go anywhere else.

I keep thinking my '04 is dead/dying, but I keep going back and it keeps running strong. It's like Rocky, the more you beat it, the harder it fights :wiggle:

Gotta rebuild the motor soon and we'll see about going out there for next year.

Who's doing the work? I go through about 3 quarts of oil in a day at RA.
