Well some of you already know about this car, but I figured I'd make a thread for your entertainment. Picked up this 99 gc a couple weeks ago and put it right in line for a some upgrades. already picked up a 6 speed and linkage, still working on figuring out what I need for the rear end here is how its sits, exactly how I bought it Update 3/4/12 Got the engine and transmission out, and most of the front suspension off. Most of the machine work is done on the engine and should be going together in a few weeks Also ordered the AIT widebody front and rear fenders Out Update 4/17/12 Front fenders are mounted, now trying to decide if i need flares too Update 4/24/12 Decided to do some more machining to my block, here it is in the hone Update 6/12/12 Forgot to update this thing! I got the rear fenders mounted for the most part. Mounted the GT Spec anti lift kit and 07 control arms. Also getting the brakes powdercoated to match the rest of my stuff. And got the shortblock together 9/18/12 Got my engine ready for display in our booth at the NOPI Nationals. Somewhat of a teaser.
It needs plenty of work, I think Andrew is already looking at a widebody kit for it. There has been much discussion about what engine to put in it. It won't be something from our normal line up thats for sure, this car will be a test bed for new setups.
Sorry saw your text but had my hands full, we leave tomorrow for PRI won't be back till next week. We will do something soon for sure.
that will be the first thing to go, as long as i dont have to spend any money on it. not sure on the wide body yet, the AIT racing one seems like the best bet so far
You need to go with this kit! It's called the Aerosim Wide Body. Probably one of the better looking kits. This particular one is the WRC widebody instead of the typical 22b everyone runs. If I wasn't flared, I'd widebody with this one (^_^)
Yeah those kits are really expensive, want to keep the bodywork investment to a minimum that way he won't have a reason not to take it to the track.
yeah that kit cost too much for a track car. Not to mention my front bumper looks way better. agreed. I want to get it running first, then if I decide to put a cage in it I will chop top it at the same time.
that kit would make it a lot more unique, but if the car has a real purpose like that..I'd be worried
just picked up a front cross member, 07 sti control arms, and an anti-lift kit thanks to Brandon and Ryan at Allpro
agreed i always liked the ver6/rs bumper better than the 22b sport bumper..everything else on the 22b is hotness.
I picked up a complete 04 STI suspension from Brandon at AllPro for Andrews GC today along with the brembos etc. Looks like its all going to start to come together quicker than we thought.
Updated the first post with pics of the font fenders installed. Working on getting the old control arms and suspension off now
How's the fitment on that kit? I was thinking of just getting the front fenders to have more clearance up front.
Fitment was actually way better than I was expecting. The rears look like they are going to be ok as well. If you wanted to blend them in it looks like it would be pretty easy. A word of warning though if you are going to track it. If you wold them in they will crack.
working on the last bit of machining needed for the block before it can go together. Updated the first post with a picture of it in the honing maching
Updated first post with some widebody action and an assembled shortblock. Should have some more powdercoated peices to show off pretty soon.
Forgot to update this thing! Just got my brakes back from the powdercoater. Stickers should be here any day now. Also picked up a magnaflow titanium exhaust from Ryan at Wirkz Performance. Ill try to update the first post with some more pictures tomorrow.
Are you molding in the kit? Here's a pic of probably one of the better molded and fitted AIT kits I've seen.
