Noticed this on my drive home tonight. In fifth gear if I go full throttle the boost slowly builds to 14.5 psi and then goes back down to 11 psi before building back up to ~16 psi. Cobb stage II map for an 06 wrx. Is this the way it should be or is something weird going on?
Are you reading it off the AP or a boost gauge? My prosport gauge dances around sometimes when I am coasting in 6th gear. The AP reads normal at the same time
Your WGDC are effed up or your boost solenoid isn't working right due to mechanical failure or vac leak. Been there done that.
Sweet. So easiest way to Diagnose? Like I said I'm running an off the shelf cobb stage II map, so I don't know how the WGDC would be screwed up. Replace the solenoid with a known good unit and if that doesn't work replace the hoses?
Check the hoses going to the solenoid for dry rot cracks. If none found you can log the car but that's likely going to show the WGDC's fluctuating. I doubt it's creep as creep doesn't fluctuate. It hits boost and gradually keeps climbing...not fall up and down like that. Does Cobb have another map for people with WG issues? I remember for me they had several different WGDC maps and my car liked the High WGDC map prior to going 18g.
Nevermind -- I don't see it listed here: http://www.accessecu.com/accessport/subaru/original/06WRXMaps.html
If you email Trey@Cobb you can probably get them (they don't support version 1 anymore it seems....you may be out of luck and need to get custom tuned). Or you can call Topspeed/Forged and schedule for a custom tune.
