It's a good price if that's what you are willing to pay.

I'd never pay that but thats me. Get a year old used and let someone else eat that first year depreciation.

Go to carsdirect.com and build your car.

It is about $1k cheaper on there.

I agree with Rick, I would never pay that much for a STi. Buy a used one and let someone else eat the 20% depreciation.

you seriously have to get lucky, but mine was 39k sticker, and 3k miles on it, 100k mile warranty, certified used for 33k. Two years later the sale value was still around 31-33k. Avoid the first year hit if you can.

As for the broken ringland.. I think I heard about 2008 sti's having problems. But there's a few people on the board that knew how I drove that thing and it went from 3k-60k with absolutely zero problems. +1 for newer subaru's.

    +1 one for dead hookers.

Not a bad deal on a new sti, go for it. First thing you buy immediately is a cobb ap and go stage 1. No questions, no ifs', no buts, just do it, your motor will thank you.

If you're willing to pay that much, it's a good deal. Most dealerships don't come off sticker price at all, supply and demand thing...the fact you got them to drop the price at all is pretty surprising.

    What dealership?

Inspection won't show a thing (in relation to cracked ringland) unless that inspection involves taking the motor apart and inspecting every piston and ringland individually. Know of several that were 100% and in a few weeks....crack.

Why not just get them to come on the car? You couldn't negotiate them into the price?

You seem like a well off guy. Are we gonna see a Forged thread with your car getting a full build in the near future?

When I had my 05 STi I kept it basically stock except CAI , stainless brake lines and a few suspension mods. I like the idea of keeping the warranty intact but we'll see what I do this time. I plan on doing some track days at the new Atlanta Motorsports Park in Dawsonville!

Yes you're right. I raced boats for years and I learned in a hurry " it ain't how fast you go , it's how long you go fast"

Very cool. Can't wait to see it when it gets here.

I have opinions on upgrades just as anyone else does. ;)
