I've got a set of 07 STi brembo brakes on my wagon and on the left front caliper there is this popping sound when I brake at a certain pressure. It almost always happens when i brake and turn right. It's really pissing me off. I thought it was my endlinks but after replacing them it still makes that pop. Help!

Does the car make the same popping sound if from stop you turn the wheel all the way to one side and then go slow? Like what you would do pulling out of a parking spot.

By chance do you have aftermarket sway bars? What suspension are you running?

i was gonna guess wheel bearing and not brakes, but could be wrong. bearings are finicky and don't always make the same noises from car to car or time to time

I have whiteline sway bars with solid endlinks and tein flex coilovers. The brakes are off an 07 STi.

Could be several things, bring it by TopSpeed and ill take a look with u.
It could be the caliper bolts loosened, brake pads pins clips missing.
Axle nut loosened. Axle going bad. Could be something loosened on coilover or top plate

Are the calipers tight? Did you see if they wiggle?

I've seen issues arise with wheel bearings, ball joints, kunckle, etc only during braking. Why only thing? It's because during braking there is a forward load exerted on all those components.

Yea I had the same issue with a popping sound during braking and turning the wheel, turned out to be my Whiteline sway bar hitting the cradle.

If it happened as soon as I installed the sway bar I would have known it was that. But its only been going on for just a few months. I thought it was the adjustable front endlinks that had too much play in them so I swapped them to the solid ones. I've checked all the brake bolts and stuff. Not missing anything. Just like it was when I first installed them a few years ago. Agh, this is frustrating.

Could be the sway bar has moved over time. Do you see any wear on the swaybar on that side?

I work at a shop, lol. And no more wear than normal. It's a sound in that area. Could be brakes, could be something else. I don't know. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar.

Same thing was happening in mine. Turned out I needed brakes and rotors. Not sure if that's the case for you.

More grease on the sway bar bushings

So, i'm going to put it back into the air and see if what i can find. The last time i looked everything was tight but we'll see...

I had the same issue with popping noise when braking, turning and going over bumps. But you said only under braking and turning. Issue for me turned out to be the wrong model front endlinks.
Had a 05 STi with whiteline adjustable front bar, was sent WL-KLC30 when it should have being KLC32 which is just a bit longer with the spacers. The bushing kept popping in and out with the KLC30 which was causing the popping noise. See if you're washers are bent.
    Example of my problem:

Another idea might be to paint spots around the sway bar drive it for a few and then see if its rubbed off anywhere.

If its brakes it could be if the brake line wasnt teathered to the shocks properly, had that happen on my 02WRX and it pulled the stainless steel lines from the caliper.

In some cases iv ran into the issue with the rotor holes that the studs go through are a tad bit to big and will allow for the rotors to shift forword and make a popping sound at a mid to low speed stop or bumbs.
