Just got told by a local shop that my A/C has a blockage somewhere. They recommended I take it to a specialist. They didn't want to tear into it. This sounds like it will get expensive real fast. Anyone have any A/C specialists they like?

Symptoms are when A/C is on the fan blows hard but not that cold. The shop put a pound of refrigerant in but still not working properly.

Well I found out that my system was over charged from the first shop. I need to find out what the proper weight in refrigerant is for a 2005 WRX. The shop I took it to said it is supposed to hold about a pound. I am trying to find some documentation to show the first shop so I can get some money back.

nicad Yes I am a troll

it's listed right there under your hood. should be near the emissions information and list type and weight of refrigerant used

there's nothing to be 'blocked' in an AC system (except for the metering device/orifice). most shops do this the lazy way and just add refrigerant assuming there are leaks. best bet is to recover the refrigerant and evacuate the system, then charge with the correct weight of refrigerant

That's what happened in the end. I pick up my car tomorrow and will check.

Well I got the car back and cold A/C. The weight is printed on a blue sticker next to the radiator on the right side. 16oz - 19oz. I went back to the original place to show them. They refunded me the whole service they did on the A/C. Their books showed something different but they were very nice and acknowledged their error.
