My question is, are they working on a direct inject 2.5l? Or are they gonna put the turbo version in the BRZ STi, and leave the n/a version in the regular BRZ? And then what would become of the WRX STi?

They've pretty much said that the BRZ will more than likely never get a factory turbo motor. They want the BRZ STi to remain N/A and will gain about 50hp over the standard model.

From what I can tell, the 2.5l (pretty much only used here) is going away in favor of the FA20 and w/e 1.6l as well.

The EJ25 is a dead engine running. The FA20, FB20 and a 1.6L will be the future of Subaru engines world wide.

We will likely never get the 1.6 liter engine. Its going to be to hard to sell over here.

For Subaru the expense to do another engine is very small, assuming that the platform sharing continues.

I would expect to see a 2.5 liter STI.

I don't expect to see the 1.6 here either.

The FA20T looks to be the engine for future WRX/STI models. They could pull a fast one and make a DI 2.5L though.

You think it will stay? There's too many world markets that are really clamping down on fuel efficiency per litre laws. I'd imagine thats why they didn't put the n/a 2.5 in any domestic imprezas anymore...
