True, I think it would look better if it was done like a true rat rod without the sticker bombing. However, I still like the originality of it.

Sorry, I just don't see the ratrod reference. This is what I think of:
No chopped top...no resemblance to rat rod. And there's not a thing good looking about it. Looks like something a mexican got a hold of.
doesn't qualify as a rat-rod in my book. - wikipedia. This is what I consider a Rat-rod: New power, old styling, chopped top, etc. BIG HP in old chassis, lightened, etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpjPIj1YF0M I would also consider the "Derelicts" by ICON as a RatRod as well: http://www.egarage.com/videos/the-derelicts-by-icon/ Joe Joe
look for Pissed Off Pete on youtube if you want pure beauty. a rat was never meant to be pretty, just evil... and what you could build out of scraps and hand me downs.
I LOVE rat rods and the philosophy behind them, but I'm not sure if I like that WRX or not. It is different, and definitely cooler than some of the giant exhaust and wing stuff I've seen, but there's a lot that throws me off. It's like some kind of weird hybrid of hotrod/ratrod/import/hipster cultures. Some elements just don't work together in a sensible manner, either. His car has cheap/rugged tie downs for the hood and holes where badges were, but expensive ass seats, a roll cage, and JDM style headlights. Then again, I guess it doesn't have to make sense. Seems to serve as a great example of a car serving as a representation of the owner.
Oh... and thanks a lot for posting it to begin with. The car was interesting, but I loved the song. That led me to look up the lyrics so I could find it on Youtube, which led me to discover it was part of a movie soundtrack, which led to me look up and watch Drive on Netflix. It didn't have as many car chases as I was hoping for, but it was a pretty kick ass movie, regardless. Thanks!
