Anyone here deal w/ classic Fords? Are you familiar with pre-rack and pinion steering? Circa 1969?

if so, hit me up. I need to get my Fairlane rolling. i need a steering person to guide to me which part(s) to replace w/o doing a complete rebuild. I'm eating tires left and right up front from what I consider is 'bad toe'

check the wheel bearings first, this will eat tires.

ball joints, tie rods, drag links, and a steering box can't cost that much for this car... do it right the first time but don't expect wonders compared to this century's technology.

    Gracias sir!

I checked upper and lower Ball Joints: good. replaced pitman arm. no top to bottom movement on each wheel. only left to right movement.

Keeping Toe settings in check with this car is a challenge.

it's such a pain in the ass with all these rods under the car.

age and fatigue will do that. Dorman OEM control arms with bushings and ball joints for $40.00 each, tie-rods are $40.00 each, not sure on a steering box or tie-rod collar price but they can be had. Can't remember if they rad the rag joint in the steering column but that would be another item to replace. Expect very bland steering and if you have power steering add a cooler.

i was wondering if it owuld be easier to swap out the upper and lower Control arms w/ ball joints and tie rods..if that would repair it all...

i just replaced the spindles with a disc brake kit about a year or so ago. iddn't see any issues at that time.
