OBD2 engine in OBD1 body, emissions?

    Never had any experience with obd1 emissions in GA but my question is,
    what would it take for a obd2 engine to pass an obd1 emission test? just a cat? and would a high flow cat do the job?

    If memory serves me you will need to contact clean air commission to answer that one.There are rules for swaps from later to earlier or in the same engine family(i.e ford 302 to 351 windsor) but what you are doing is a wee bit more than that.I believe they would handle it on a case by case basis.Would the car only have an early obd port or will it have both?just curious though it might matter.

    i saw that on the clean air emission site, but i also saw something that goes along the lines of "no matter what the year of the engine, emissions testing is based on the year of the body"

    it has a obd2 port

    I think you just have to pass visual and sniffer test according to make, model, and OEM motor.

    a properly tuned motor in good condition will do more than a high flow cat but it wouldn't hurt
