Looking to buy tires this month and looking for a good deal. Leaning towards bridgestone RE760. Currently running 245/45/17 on stock BBS. Will settle for 225/235/245. Also need alignment as well. Ive heard good things of allpro for alignments. Any info for a good company to select to have tires shipped to whichever place I select for mounting and balancing?
I've been searching from tires also and have found that Kauffman tire is pretty cheap. You don't have to pay for shipping and if you sign up for their mailing list they email you a $50.00 coupon for your next purchase. I am getting a set of Michelin PSS for $760 installed. That's cheaper then anywhere on the net having them shipped and then installed somewhere.
Shop around and then talk to Keiran (Like the japanese beer) at Gran Turismo. Tell him you are a member on WRXatlanta. I believe they sponsor the site or use to.
Damn, I'm looking into michelin psp because I can get a good deal. It's those or bridgestones. This will be my first alignment on the sti since owning it. I got stock rims, prodrive springs and Cobb sway bars. Any suggestions for alignment specs??
Allpro will get you set up right. I have a full STi swap with Tockiko D specs and whileline sway bars and I get great grip and very good, even tire wear. My alignment was done by Brandon about a year ago and havent had a problem since
It sounds like you are on the stock struts, so in some sense you are limited in camber, but I have read and been told that you can get up to -1 deg of camber dialed in on stock struts. If you are mostly commuting and such, usually you run 0 toe, as that can wear out your tires a bit quicker, but gives great initial turn in. I tried that once, and it was a little too twitchy for directional concrete highways (ga400) at 75-80mph. But to each their own. Also, hit up allpro, i've gotten all my alignments from them and they are great, Brandon does a top notch job, should be a set and forget thing (unless you fiddle with camber and camber plates like i used to).
Ive heard great things of all pro but my tires will be mounted in Hiram. I wish they were more convenient to me. I'm gonna get alignment the same day, as for specs I just want even tread wear for now. However if I swap out suspensions parts(springs/coilovers) this summer, definitely will hit up all pro for another alignment. Any idea what to spec camber & toe for even tread wear (factory specs maybe?)
For sure 0 toe, and honestly in the scheme of things -1degree of camber i would be amazed if it would show any uneven wear, so i believe its safe. But yes there is always just stock settings which i guess zeroes it all out.
yea -1 camber is fine, theres a guy on here "wrxbryanatl" ask him all about camber, i think he has -5 or something. btw its functional.:|
