Hey all So I have a question for you all.... I have konis and progress springs and have had them since 30k miles...i'm at 72k now. For the last 30k i want to say, I have had the konis set on 1/4-1/2 turn from full hard because I like the gokart-like ride. But I am wondering, is there such thing as TOO stiff? My ride is pretty damn stiff and I feel practically everything on the road, even the white lines :hs: I'm sure the fact that my tires are almost done doesnt help either But the rattles in the car have increased and increased and I don't want the stiff ride to shake the car to bits. Is there any downside of running a stiff suspension for a prolonged period of time? This car is my daily and I commute about 45 miles each way 4-5 days a week. Side note...in the two left lanes after crossing the chattahooche bridge on 285e right after the cumberland/75 onramp, does anyone scrape? It seems the pavers did a terrible job and made this huge dip where everyone gets launched into the air after going over the bridge.
they did a completely horrendous job paving. i guess they plan on leaving the "bump" signs up permanently.
Other than rattling the car to pieces and some dental work you might notice less control when you hit bumpy patches of road. You reach a point where the suspension is so stiff that it "skips" a little over the bumps. Obviously if the tires aren't on the road you have no control.
+1 on the terrible paving job. I actually had to have my alignment redone after one of the bridges a couple of months ago.
get a set of Swift reds or RCE Blacks as it sounds like your current springs have sprung. Hopefully you haven't hammered the Konis to death, one obvious sign is shock oil weeping around the seals.
i'll get under the car and take a look for leaking oil this weekend. they still feel fine as far as rideability goes...they dont feel bouncy or anything, very controlled after take bumps and potholes. though, any bounciness i do notice is probably from the road itself in conjunction with stiff ride. what is this you're saying about my springs have sprung?
