Window Tint

Discussion in 'Modifications & DIY how-to' started by wileycoyote0022, Apr 5, 2013.

  1. Ok so its starting to heat up now, and Im tired of not having tint on my car. Anyone recommend some spots to get tinting done? Even better if they use 3M stuff.

There are 100 threads on this already.

I wouldnt limit yourself to 3m...Winco, huper, Formula 1, Llumar are probably the best in the business. Formula 1 and Llumar are the same company now though. I would suggest whatever tint you get, make sure it comes with a nationwide lifetime warranty. It will probably be a little more money but it is well worth it. If you want to drive to Gwinnett, I know a few spots but there are also a ton of great places closer to you.

call this guy. he does awesome work with just about any film out there. I went with SunTek and have been 100% satisfied thus far. He works under Sound Sensations just south of the loop.

whatever the place is at wendy hill and 41 behind the car spa, do NOT go there. They're supposed to be a sponsored vendor (at one point in time) and allegedly gave discounts to members. I went up there in person and got a quote from the owner, setup an appointment, returned a few days later and they would not honor their quote, tried to charge me double for it.

As someone in sales, that's about the worse thing you can do IMO.

This guy is good and have heard numerous great reviews about him. I have personally never been there just because he is a little too far from me.

My Audi was tinted at Total Appearance in Gwinnett. He is a Formula 1 Pinnacle dealer and I have known the owner (Billy) for years.

I had mine done at the dealer.
    Twice.
    And still have a bubble.
Lifetime warranty is great but go see their work before you choose. It's like the cheap lifetime warranty start, it ma be free the next time but do you really want the hassle?

If you use Llumar, Formula One, Huper optical - you can go to any of their authorized dealers /installers to get the tint fixed under the lifetime warranty. Huper is just too damn expensive.

One more happy customer from Oasis in L'ville (believe they are also the in-house tint for Car Tunes). Bit pricey though.

  11. I did a search, last one I saw was from a couple years ago, no telling if those companies were still in business. Thought it would be useful to open up a new thread just in case there are others who are needing some fresh info about tint companies.

What was his prices like? Going to call him tomorrow for sure.

I forgot about calling Brandon, Ill see what he can do, thanks.

I think mine was $275, but I went with the more expensive film. I can't remember exactly. It also came with a lifetime warranty anywhere in the country. So if I move and something happens, I'm covered by SunTek, not the installer.

His website shows both Llumar and SunTek, but he's got pretty much every brand in his shop. Even 3M.

    Mine totaled out to 550.00

    I did 25% all around(including front windshield) on 08 5 series.

Wow, did he at least give you some Vaseline? Huper Optik would have been cheaper and far superior to Suntek.

  17. Yeah, 550 is pretty steep I have never paid over 300 for a tint job. I don't expect to spend more than 225 for a 2 door civic not a lot of tint needed.

The film quality was there, he did a great job, 550 was well worth it. I got tired of that cheap tin/jobs quality I've experienced before.

Not trying to be a jerk but that is way to much to pay for a tint job. Next time find a dealer that sells Formula 1 Pinnacle or Huper Optic. You can't just to your local distributor to buy those brands. They both require a rigorous certification process to be able to install and buy the film.

Oasis is a good shop and has been around forever. I remember picking up tint from them back in the 90's. AS long as you are happy with your tint, that is all that matters in the end. For others looking to buy tint, you shouldnt have to pay for the $350 for ceramic tint and $225 range for regular lifetime warranty tint. If you want the best, Huper Optic will run you around $450-$500.
