i'm getting a nasty noise that seems to be coming from the front passenger axle when moving at any speed.

visual inspection isnt showing anything major; i serviced it once with my Dad's help months ago when the boot tore, but it was a pain. what could be the cause?

came to find out most people simply replace the whole drive axle because of the annoyance of working on it.

where can I source one affordably? Someone at the time said they were running high HP setup on axles they got from ebay, no problem.

I think subaru sells OEM remanned axles that are actually brand new. I'd get one from the dealer.

    Otherwise, Autozone should be fine.

Could possibly be a bad wheel bearing also. If you over tightened the axle nut when doing the axle it could have caused the wheel bearing to fail prematurely.

Wheel bearing, axle, or front diff. All sound the same initially. Once the front diff eats itself a little more it will sound like someone with a baseball card made of metal in your 'spokes'
