I'm about to have to dump $1200 for a new clutch and flywheel at All Pro. Only reason I am changing the flywheel is because they aren't fans of mixing different brands ( IE: Exedy clutch kit on CC flywheel). So I decided to go with a whole other setup. My question: how much should I be able to sell the Competition Clutch flywheel for? Only has 23k on it. Was bought brand new about a year ago. Just trying to apply this towards the cost of fixing it.
I've never had an issue mixing brands...it's a piece of metal. Not like it has some sort of special powers when mated to the same brand clutch.
That was what All Pro recommended. He did say I didn't have to, but he's just not a fan. If I do sell the CC flywheel, how much should I ask for?
I paid $300 for the whole kit new (flywheel, pressure plate, throwout, etc..) I'm just a daily driver, so they recommended a stage 1 Exedy kit.
best thing to do is have it resurfaced, take a picture then post it up for $200.00 if you don't reuse it. This way a potential buyer (not integroid) knows that it's good to go.
Are you saying I cant fit that flywheel onto my car? LOL Breel is right though. I would highly recommend getting it resurfaced before posting it for sale.
Resurfacing it would cost half as much as he could sell it for. That's why I haven't bothered resurfacing the FW I have for sale. I wouldn't buy another FW unless they are recommending you go back to stock one. I'd be curious to hear Allpro's reasoning aside from "they don't like mixing brands" Most clutch kits are made by the same manufacturers anyways. Comp's might be produced by exedy diaken for all I know.
The last flywheel I got resurfaced cost me $20. The three performance clutch companies I have personally visited made their own clutch kits. I dont know where you got the idea that one huge manufacturer makes all performance aftermarket clutches from.
My 6spd FW cost $50 to be resurfaced because its 2 step and I couldn't sell it for $125 shipped I know my ACT clutch has a SPEC sticker on the pressure plate And many Luk, sachs, and exedy share the same part numbers. Not that I really care who makes the disc since its a shape cut out of material and riveted to the disc. My point was they are all pretty similar.
My last flywheel I got resurfaced was a Subaru 6MT flywheel from a STi. Used stock Flywheels dont go for much at all. I bought a used one for $50 shipped and then got it resurfaced for $20. I dont see why you had a SPEC (as in SPEC clutch) sticker on an ACT clutch. I am positive those two companies dont have anything to do with each other unless something recent changed. I have been to both ACT and SPEC and seen where they make their PP and Disc. ACT paints all of their PP yellow and SPEC use to paint all of their PP blue.
