WRX Boost problem

I will try to keep this short. I just got the car few days ago. First when it got to boost(0,98bar) it started bucking and hesitating, I suspected the spark so I pulled them and replaced with new ones. It pulls significantly better and response is sharper now but it is hesitating and not wanting to go when it gets to 0,98 bars, so obviously it is not spark issue. I know stock boost is 0,9bar so is it the ECU cutting my fun off or what is happening? Considering the mods could it be that it just needs a tune? Previous owner had a Cobb accessport on it with tuned maps but as of our agreement I bought it without it. Car is running seriously rich too looking at the plugs. I haven't really pushed it since it is not tuned but I would like to get all the possible power out.

Here is what's on the automobile:
    VF39(ported)
    STI pink injectors
    Intake
    3" turboback exhaust
    up-, mid, downpipe
    Quite large front mounted intercooler
    Walbro 255 l/ph fuel pump
At the moment stock ECU with no reflash or anything.
    Stock boost solenoid etc.

What do you think? Do I just need a tune, or I need to get something else? Next week I am putting on a wideband PLX to get an idea what's going on in there.
    Appreciate any input guys.

Palm to Face.....I really hope your motor is ok. Please go get it tuned before driving it around anymore. I cant believe the guy sold it to you like that. You cant do those types of mods without a tune.

No need palming your face, I know what I bought. But can you tell me why it is acting like this when barely hitting stock boost? To clear something up I am not driving it like I stole it, I am trying to figure out a problem and had to troubleshoot.

vacuum leak? bad maf? fuel cut? retune? Good luck with getting the fun turned back on.

Get it tuned. Best bang for the buck. The tuner will also be able to see if you have any leaks/bad maf etc..

It's acting like that because you have a ton of mods without a tune. Go get tuned before you kill your car. Doesn't matter how you are driving the car, with all those mods and no tune it's a time bomb. I'm amazed the owner sold it to you without the tunes. Whatever you do, stay out of boost.

Well you are running on a stock tune for a smaller turbo, smaller injectors, etc. Its dumping fuel everywhere. Must get it tuned....shouldn't even be cranking the car up at all.

Yeah I will get it tuned as soon as I get it ready for it. I bought it in a pretty sketchy condition, also it had been sitting for a minute, I used couple of days just cleaning it up and bringing it back to life, it also had little things here and there, hoses not clamped down properly, it had a small fuel leak in the return line, BOV rusted stuck etc...So it is my little project. :)

You aren't hitting stock boost with a stock tune because of the NON stock parts . Is that clear enough for you? The previous posts are from people who've been around for quite some time so listen to the sage advice given.

Sounds like you are planning a 207 swap or a motor build the way you are driving it.

I used a tune for a vf39 while I broke my motor in with a 20g. Since I wanted it to see some boost for the rings to seat, I didn't run over 7psi and constantly monitored the wideband.

At least try to find some one with a tactrix cable and flash something on it. I loaned mine to a local guy that got his etune for $140, and that with mulitple revisions... do something like that. its much cheaper than a new engine or an accessport.

Automobile is getting an accessport v2 today. Anybody up for a minimeet somewhere in the city tonight?

You still need to get it tuned....just an accessport wont do you any good without a tune or a map for your turbo and injectors.

won't be great but OP can get a Cobb OTS map for the injectors and snail.

I didnt think they had off the shelf maps for different turbos and injectors.

Stage 3 is the vf39 and pinks otherwise I don't know why anyone would pay for pinks. My uncapped light blues were perfect for my vf39 setup.

That's assuming the restrictor pill is still there and properly drilled. Also he is running a front mount and a different pump than what a off the shelf stage 3 calls for This guy needs to get a custom tune.

Yes I know that, and it is now running a tune for the mods in it and it is running like a dream, a/f ratios look good from stop to 6000rpm. I will be swapping the intake to something different and have it tuned again. To clear something up which I did not mention in the first post, I am in no way new to cars like these. My biggest curiosity was what controls the boost in these things since I was not reaching stock, I see a boost solenoid, non adjustable wastegate actuator, so I assume it is the ECU(or tune in it) that controls it electronically?

Gotta say the Accessport is pretty neat, closest thing I ever used was Apexi power FC which I had in my 200sx and multiple RX7's. Times have changed. :)

That guy got a custom tune today.

It is basically the same as any other electronic boost controller except the ecu controls the solenoid.

Is it worth the money switching that to the Grimmspeed's solenoid? I see a lot of people having that in their cars,do they use it to keep the boost down or up it? I know I'm like a 5 year old with all my questions, sorry. My vf39 is also ported, will it flow enough if I run 1.0bar, that's what I plan on remapping it. Or is it ported as a security measure, I read these things have a tendency to crack a turbine housing or something.

It's worth the money for a GM solenoid and I think the OE plug from the wiper motor will make it PnP.
