Hey everyone, I am not sure if this is the right place or not, but I will try anyway. I am looking to have some body repair work done and want to find a good place but have no idea where to start, so hopefully you can help. The things I want fixed - cracked front bumper (kind of glued together right now) thinking of doing the plate holder shaving while I'm at it(a-la RSutton), rear bumper (minor dings so not as important at this point), and my passenger side, side skirt. Rob already suggested WagonWerkz(sp?) which I will check out, but wanted to get feedback on any others. Thanks!
wagenwerks is great. Since you're in Smyrna, I would consider ArtCraft which is at the corner of Windy Hill and South Cobb Drive. They do great work as well.
I can agree with Matt. My car is over at wagenwerks right now actually. They're doing some really great work over there. I had my DD camry get a new rear bumper from getting rear ended over at Magnum Collision, that place is huuge, they did well for me, but I've heard of a decent amount of misses lately.
Depends on what you expect and how much time you want to spend making sure you are getting what you pay for. I suggest multiple quotes. Artcraft or Performance Collision in Alpharetta are the 2 I can recommend with a good conscience.
For the amount of cars they turn over in comparison I wonder which is worse. People seem reluctant to talk about the issues at Wagenwerks. How long has your car been there?
VP Automotive on HWY 41 in Kennesaw. Ask for Vishal and tell him Kevin sent you from IQAutos. He does all of our high end bodywork for my dealership and his quality is top notch. He actually specializes in higher end stuff like Ferraris, Lambos, Rolls Royce, etc. BlueDestiny (Chip) had his repair work done their when his STI got hit by a truck. He posted a review around here somewhere. VP also painted my WRX on a few different occasions after it was hit.
Thanks for all the recommendations so far. I will check a couple of these places out for some quotes.
Please PM for details if you want them. I will praise good service/work when I receive it. I will not create flaming threads when I don't. I just suggest people go elsewhere when they ask. AllPro is awesome. JPM is phenomenal.
Everyone I have talked to says WagonWerkz takes a very long time to complete their work. However you can't rush perfection.
There is perfection and then there is taking on way to much than your shop can handle....when that happens things get rushed and stuff starts coming out looking sloppy. Not that it is happening over @ WagonWerkz just saying that is typically what happens. The only way to improve on this is to expand and hire more people. When that ultimately happens Quality starts to decline and then they are the same as any other body shop.
I've seen some good work done by Bryson. Unfortunately, I can't point you to my garage for an example of his good work. I too heard about his attention to detail. In fact, hearing that he was a "perfectionist" is part of why I went there. I wasn't looking for a deal I wanted it done right. Whether you know it or not you have hit the nail on the head. Expanding and finding good quality employees is difficult (It was a problem there 2 yrs ago for sure). I was extremely patient, but in the end I won't bring any car back there even if I'm due warranty work on the paint. Bryson is the "perfectionist" owner and what he delivered to me twice was sloppy and took forever. He always struck me as good people so I really hope he eventually works it out.
He's definitely good people. And because he's such a perfectionist, he won't hire some shlub off the street to work for him. He wants only the best...and I can't really blame him. But it also comes at a price...slower work, etc...
Honestly. this is bit out in left field.. but when I needed a new bumper I had it done by Apalachee RV (http://www.apalacheerv.com/). Since they do bodywork/paint on RVs the place is huge. They ordered my bumper, borrowed my gas lid to match it, painted it, let it cure for 30 days in the shop then clear bra'd it before installing on my vehicle. Paint looked perfect to my eye.
I had a friend of mine that works at AutoTrader and he also recommended Performance Collision (he took his RS5 there). Anyone else have experience there?
I've always had GREAT paint and repair experiences from a really small shop called Perfect Body in Woodstock. It's not the greatest looking shop, but I am extremely anal about paint and their work always exceeded my expectations.
