Okay so Friday I noticed my car was starting to over heat. I popped the hood and noticed my radiator was leaking. Well I replaced the radiator but while doing so I think I may of slightly twisted one of the power steering hoses so now I have no power steering and am getting bubbles/foam/overflow from the reservoir. I've tried the turkey baster method of changing the ATF in the power steering reservoir but no luck even after turning the wheels lock to lock off the ground. Can anyone enlighten me? The hoses going to and from the reservoir are rock solid also and I'm not sure where to get replacement hoses from other than Subaru. I've been researching extensively and have read about replacing the suction side o ring coming from the reservoir, but I'm not sure if autozone, etc has it. I'm pretty much stranded until I can figure this out so any input is greatly appreciated!

  2. o ring..most likely.air getting into lines at top of reservoir..You should be able to match up o ring..

Thanks for the quick reply. I've read it was a hard to find size though. 5/8" x 1/2" x 1/16" according to this video http://youtu.be/GnvnAOc07MI. Also what is your opinion on my reservoir hoses? They literally feel like plastic. I'm afraid they're so brittle that they'll break when I do the repair

  4. I just took the oring and matched it up using our generic box of misc o rings at work. The hose did seem plasticy but if you are careful it should not be a problem.Mine went ok..just unbolted and raised hose up just enough to r and r o ring..

unfortunately I have an 03 and the bolt is on the side of the suction hose bracket instead of on top like 04+. The O ring is a different size too for anyone else who does this in the future. I've got everything apart now but my hoses were so hard I really don't think they were getting a good seal anymore. Just ordered replacements from subaruparts.com. I just hope this fixes my issue and I don't have to end up rebuilding the pump itself

For sure. But it didn't start doing this until after I moved the suction hose to put the radiator in. That's why I think the hose just wasn't sealing anymore and letting air in
