I've been researching but has not been successful. I've only found one aftermarket headlights for 07 WRX and the LEDs look horrible. I've seen some cool ones on google but are they mostly custom? I love the look of the new LEDs like the one on the new subies: Are there any aftermarket headlights that look similar to this?
i highly recommend a retrofit. I did one a couple months ago....best upgrade to the car that i've done in a long time. Check out theretrofitsource.com ...they also have parts for angel eyes and whatnot if you wanted to do that. On top of that, they're located here in Atlanta...not far from smyrna. Those led strips are on pretty much every single new car now and while it was cool at first, now I think they're just cheesy crappy night time cell pics on my retro
I actually did retrofit myself when I had the 5.0. I hated the look of reflective housing that most older mustangs have. For some reason Ford uses some kind of super hard silicone that cannot be melted by baking so most people use dremel. I managed to get it opened using the oven but ...let's just say it was not pretty. Also I started getting condensation at times and no matter what I did (re-sealing/drilling tiny holes on the bottom), it would come back. WRX or STI, both of them come stock with projectors which I love. BTW I am shopping for a set of headlights at the moment because they were damaged from the accident I was in last week...Is the STI headlights worth it over the WRX headlights? Couldn't I just put HIDs in the WRX headlights and wouldn't it be the same? Also on ebay, most sellers sell only one side of the headlight but I need a set. Anyone know where I can get a pair for a good price?
Short answer: no...it won't be the same. While they are both projectors, the STi lens is slightly different for the higher output. One reason why I suggested TRS was because they have a kit for the WRX that is perfect. anyone can (and has :|) put an HID kit in the WRX and thought it was okay. It's really not. Plus with a proper retrofit, you can get rid of the halogen high beam and have a true bi-xenon output. while the STi headlight is better than wrx, I would still get wrx and retrofit them with better projectors. Depo sells lights that are OEM style for...almost every car. If all pro doesn't have a set/can't get a set, I would look for depo. Otherwise, look into car-part.com to scour junk yards for (hopefully) good housings.
I have some ready for a retrofit. They are currently apart as I was about to paint the housings on them. Still have the WRX projectors. the only thing different is the actual housing the bulb goes into. It accommodates the D2S or D2R bulb and has a slightly different shaped reflective housing. The lens is the same and the glare shield is reversible with one side saying halogen and the other xenon or something to indicate.
