    Hey guys,

Just gauging interest. My girlfriend is going to be out of town this weekend, and wanted to see if a few people would be interested in going into the north ga mountains this weekend (Saturday or Sunday) for some mountain road fun.

I honestly don't care. If someone has a good run they want to do, I would be cool with that. If not I'll probably map something around the blood mountain area. Maybe even a little further North.

With my new sways installed, I am VERY interested, but the weather does not look to great for Sunday and the rest of the weekend is pretty packed.
Keep me updated on any other runs you do though! I really want to get to one of them with some of you guys.

It does look like pretty bad weather on Sunday. Looks like it is going to have to be Saturday... I'm up to go as early as possible

just from experience do the run as early as possible as in 10am is getting late especially for 129 bc cops usually start getting out there. or as with me, i flat out avoid 129 now

I did one of the mtn runs listed in the forum a few weeks ago on a Sunday and got there around 1. I guess I got lucky because there was no traffic at all.

agreed sundays and weekdays I've had my best luck, i think since it's not quite spring season, you all should be fine, summer was my worst luck by far.

Check out the Helen loop, might be closer and you can pit stop for a beer in the German town.

My grandparents used to have cabins there so I know the area but have never driven the loop itself.

Afternoon is usually light traffic as well. As it gets later and hotter the bicyclist are finishing for the day.

I did 129 through Blood Mtn and looped back via Wolf Pen Gap/180 last Saturday AM. I left the city by 7a and did the entire loop without seeing hardly anyone. I'd like to explore more areas without getting too much further from the city. What's the story with the Helen Loop? I've never been through there.

sr 348 is the scenic road, nice long sweepers, and also a nice break from corner carving to pull off and check out the views. then you can pick up 75 and loop back to 180. I personally just never cared much for the 75 part but mainly bc it was so far away from wolf penn where i like to play

I just mapped it. Looks like a winner. Can't wait to check it out next time.

A few weeks ago wolfs gap had so much gravel on it that it was too dangerous to have any fun.

I was in Helen a few weekends ago and it was bad, but it was still really bad in Midtown with all of the gravel. I would bet all of the roads are pretty much clear by now, but thanks for the heads up. I'm willing to risk it! lol :bigthumb:

Are you still planning on going on Sunday? I can't do Saturday cause I am working the St Patties Festival at Red Brick Brewery but I am good for Sunday. I have done a couple of the runs up there with my old Mini but haven't been up there with the Subaru. Let me know

Sadly I didn't end up going. No one could make it up and I decided to get some things around the house done :( I justified not going because I'm going to be in the mountains up in NC next Thursday through Sunday! Next time I plan on going for a mountain run ill post it up! I'm thinking March 30th

I am still on the fence for this weekend.
    Do have times/duration in mind?
I suppose a good mountain run would be a good break in for the new steering rack that is going in on Saturday...or is that not a good idea?

I was planning on starting either at the home depot by the outlets or the Waffle house where 400 ends. I am planning on going 19 to 180 to 348 to 75 A to 129 North till it hits 19 and then head back home. See map below

For anyone that wants to go, my number is 6787278222. See everyone on Sunday morning at the home depot arcoss the street from the North GA outlets

I was wrong its not the home depot, its the walmart across the street from the outlets. Also, the route is 97.3 miles from start to finish so make sure to have a full tank of fuel. I am thinking it should take about 2 hours depending on group size. I have never rode 348 before but the road looks fun

Home Depot is right next to Walmart. I'd suggest the home Depot parking lot as it is always empty and the Walmart lot is mostly full

Tomorrow has a chance of rain most of the morning / afternoon. However weather in this state changes every 20 minutes so you never know.

Very much true, more likely to rain at any time, regardless of forecast, especially N.GA.

  46. Enzo

Yeah I saw that forecast. It's like 90% chance of rain and when I looked in n ga there are supposed to be severe thunderstorms throughout the day. I guess we will plan another weekend
