Where are some good places to mount your GoPro camera on Subarus? When I had my Mini, I fabricated a mount on a bolt that fit in the tow hook, on my old Jeep, I just strapped it to the front grill but I cannot seem to find a good place to attach it on my WRX. I am not a fan of the suction mounts because I have seen those go flying off. I have used the larger professional suction mounts but I really don't want 3 plate sized cups with metal hanging all over when I am driving. I have seen some with the camera fixed in their hood Scoop which was kind of cool. I came across this one on Kickstarter http://kck.st/1epTCeQ which I really like but like all kickstarter projects, that will take a year before I actually get it. So what are some other good places to mount it?
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 4.3; SCH-I545 Build/JSS15J) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/33.0.1750.166 Mobile Safari/537.36) Lower front air dam with the adhesive mount. I suction on the inside of the front windshield by the rear view mirror for a relatively more natural field of view. Also ive had great luck with suctioning the gopro to doors on my car and others, some who have gone quite fast with no problems other than wind noise.
Ive seen one mounted on the inside of windshield some how strapped to the rear view mirror. Wish he would come back in. Been thinking of getting a gopro for mountain runs and stuff.
I have seen it on the sun roof before and the video always looks pretty good. I love my gopro but I will admit that most of the time when I take it out, I never know what to actually shoot.
yeah i personally liked to use to for getting footage of the roads to help memorize turns/ find reference points, etc. Only once did i try to do a 'fun vid edit' with footage off of it. Also it came in handy when Bixs and I were trying to figure out how much sidewall flex was in a michelin pss (a lot, but the suckers still grip)
I used it on my a couple other cars to see ground clearence and suspension. On a non car setup, I put it in my washing machine just for shits and giggles and that was quite interesting.
I have had mine on the hatch wing, the hood in front of the driver, on the left passenger side window, on the inside windshield, on the rear quarter panel. Most of this with the suction cup. To find a good perspective I did a couple test locations on my way to work, then watched the footage. The suction has lasted down the dragon and on two track days. I want to try in the front air dam as previously mentioned, for that that down low race track look!
