So, please excuse me if I am the only one that did not know about this. ssh: I was looking at this guys youtube channel for something else and this one caught my eye. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3wD-jHTN0E&list=HL1399059565&feature=mh_lolz Did everyone know about this? I turned it to through mode today and the bass response did seem to improve. It is kind of hard to tell because you have to turn the system on and off to change between modes, but I didn't see anything in the manual about this! Apparently if you hold 1 and 6 and tap the tune button you can change the "loud" setting too. Gonna try that one later today.
Oh man I'm glad I saw this post. I'm not a fan of the stock system. I am definitely going to try this on the way home from work. Thanks for posting this!
I can't even tell you how glad I am that you posted this... It is AMAZING how much of a difference this makes for me. Most of my music would start distorting around volume level 30-32 with horrible bass and pretty much terrible quality in general. I would have to put the bass at -3 or -4 just too keep it from distorting. And I listen to about every kind of music... I changed the mode yesterday and holy $*%&!! It sounds completely different. It is much louder, much clearer, and it doesn't distort past 30 volume! I also can control my bass now and not put it in the -'s. This morning I could listen to a song with a +3 bass setting that I usually have to put at -5 just to listen to. This just makes me wonder WTF was subaru thinking?! This will definitely make my audio bearable until I upgrade the audio. Thanks for the tip. If you haven't done this in your GR you need to do it now!
I thought it made a pretty big difference as well. I would still like to at least upgrade the speakers on down the line, but this is a nice fix. Did you go with the through mode?
Yeah I did. I didn't even try the (edit)wagon mode. I put on through with the LOUD on. It is just crazy how much better it makes it.... It seriously just blows my mind that they would let these cars out of the factory with that shitty setting when it is obviously capable of better audio.
It does. I remember seeing a YouTube video about it awhile back. It's probably a different button combination. I never messed with it as I changed my head unit days after I bought the car.
When i tried it, after holding the 1 & 2/3 buttons, the CD player started changing discs, that's it. Maybe if I eject all CD's first, it will work?? I'll have to try it again. Thanks for the heads up though
