hmm i have been wondering a lot about this. Especially since close friends know i carry, they've suggested it can be helpful for proving self defense

I have been thinking about this as well..... Super good idea. I have seen tons of videos of pedestrians throwing themselves in front of cars and hit and runs etc.... Really good way of protecting yourself.

So are you going to have 4 cams? Not worried about the rear and/or sides?

I recently ordered this dash cam the other day. I chose it due to the built in GPS and tiny size, stealth is my goal with this. If I remember I'll post some videos after I get it. My chief concern right now is figuring out how to wire it up without being obvious. I tapped the mirror wire for my V1. I'll probably have to do a fuse tap for this.

Well I went ahead and purchased the BlackBox like what Matt posted above.

    http://smile.amazon.com/Black-Box-G1...dp/B00SX88JIQ/

I read a ton of really good reviews on it and I figured for $70 I really couldnt wrong.

I will let you guys know when I get it in and installed.

Sorry about the music....Night shot on my way home from dinner. Still trying to figure everything out. One note....make sure you only buy a 32gb Micro SD Card. I bought a 64 gb at first and it didnt work.

Looks good, you can pretty easily read the exit signs. Are videos compressed at all when uploaded to YouTube? Just curious of the quality was better on your computer straight from the cam than it was once on YT.

eddie... why are you apologizing about great music? If someone doesn't like it, they have no taste!

I figured most kids on here probably have no idea who that is playing:)

So far it is pretty impressive for a $70 camera. Strange thing is I have it to loop every 10 minutes but it seems like it is making like various movie lengths from a few seconds to a few minutes. ANother thing, it is a lot bigger than I thought it would be. Need to figure out how to turn off the display as well. I think once I figure everything out, it should be perfect as a dash cam.

The file it creates is a .mov file. Youtube does compress it but the quality isnt really degraded on youtube.

I'm looking for something small that works more like a DVR, just recording over itself if I don't save the file.

Well this does do that....it seems like it is overwriting the oldest file on there. Dont get me wrong....This one is really light and small but bigger than I expected since it has the viewing LCD screen on the back.

    pEd This ain't no Piccadilly!

I've got this one and have been more than happy with it.
Basically the same issues that Eddie mentioned in his post. 32Gb card at most, and sometimes it records in 10 minutes segments, 5 or 20 minutes others.

I'll see if I can pull some night video and post it for reference with Eddie's.
Mine won't have Pink Floyd music though. :wtc:

How long will it record on that 32Gb card?

go make another one, with a different P.F. song. :p

I have 70 files varying in file size between 23.6 MB (12 second recording) to 597 MB (for a 5 minute recording). The card has recording dates back to Feb.13th. Unfortunately, I don't have any night recordings as my wife has been driving this car for the last couple of weeks (it's all day light/time recording for her). I'll work on the PF song and nighttime video.

"Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" or "Fat Old Sun" should be used for your soundtrack pEd

I'm looking for something more discreet to install but this is perfect for multiple vehicles

So I took a video tonight with my Mini 0805. It's super tiny. The video at night is pretty decent.

I know the other cams are probably more desirable, but here's my sample anyway.

Edit* I had the audio off.

finally got my dash cam installed. it was amazing exactly how fast and easy it was.

I currently have the same issue eddie does. video length. I'm only seeing about 20 second clips at most. could that be due to 1080p? Or something else.. I dunno. here's 7 videos I merged together of my initial drive.

I pulled the card this morning. The video cutting out is now fixed. I'm gonna find a decent clip and post it to youtube.

There was a secondary settings menu that I didn't see before. In that, there was continuous looping.

    Three options:

    3 minutes (default)
    5 minutes
    10 minutes
    off

I turned it off. Have seen every video in their entirety since making that change.

i think i might bite the bullet on the one that you have. it seems to do well at night which i was most concerned about, since even a potato can see during the daylight.
