    Hey all,

My center diff decided to take a dump while on a road trip 300 miles away from my house. Cause was probably uneven stocker tires i swapped in for 4-6 months between good tires. When viscous coupling broke, getting the car off the highway grinded the spider gears in the front diff up bad. So i've had a failure in each of my 3 diffs for some reason or another in the past month.

A rebuilt 90000 mile 5sp gearbox with parts from someone else's trashed transmission didn't seem all that appealing so i went 04 Sti 6-speed swap w/67k miles + F&R brembos getting done at AllPro.

Anything besides this stuff you guys think would be a "must upgrade" while swapping all this out in the suspension links or otherwise?

Thanks, It's on the way already but I got it with brembos for a similar price.

Make sure you get a proper DCCD controller.

While you've got the transmission out, it's a great time to throw a lightweight flywheel and upgraded clutch in. Group N transmission mount as well?

    upgrade complete

Wes at Allpro got my swap installed this week. The DCCD harness my seller sent was trash, so i'll be getting something off www.DCCDpro.com in the future but at least he is understanding and also took the freight cost off when we found the clutch to be smoked as well.

It was definately night and day driving back home! The 6 speed will take a little getting used to between the upgraded gear noises(redline shockproof instead of extra s?) under acceleration on highway and different ratios. But, i am especially happy about the brembos, even with stock rotors and pads, the difference is truly incredible.

put extra s in there and there shouldn't be any gear noises mine doesn't.

I have fresh extra s in there now. The sound is audible from under center of car with windows up, stereo off, only while accelerating over 60 mph. Similar threads i've seen say it's normal but getting it looked at anyway.

Glad to hear you got your car back on the road man! Do you know if the transmission has upgraded bushings or a short shifter on it? I have heard those all make the 6 speed louder.

Get a louder exhaust. I can't hear the whine in my gearbox. Hell, I can barely hear my stereo because someone forgot to weld in my 3rd muffler last week.
