Well I have a boot gone on one of my front axles, anyone have any recommendations? I realize that since the boot it torn, the axle is probably shot and will need to be replaced. Anyone have any experiences good or bad with aftermarket? $310+ shipping seems a bit steep for the stock subaru parts, but I don't want to get something and then have to replace it again in 5000 miles either.

So I wanted to see if anyone knew of a decent place to get good quality replacement axles for a reasonable price. I am used to around $125 or so...$310 just does not sound right for just the part, lol.

As an aside...local parts store has them as cheap as $69 and is covered by a lifetime warranty....

Either get a boot kit (both bands, grease and boot) for $40 or so and fix it or get the cheapest aftermarket axle you can buy.

An axle is an axle and unfortunatly the SUBARU reman ones are EXPENSIVE and either the SAME or WORSE quality as the $25 GCK ones found on amazon.com.

On that note, I installed two GCK axles in my Legacy saturday. Fitment was as if it were a NEW SUBARU OE axle. No issues.

Got them from Amazon.com for $24.99 each and when i got them amazon was running a deal for any orders over $40 had free ground shipping. So for $49.98 I got two axles as good as new subaru units shipped to my door 2 days after i ordered them.

You shouldnt need 'big beefy' axles until around 700+ and only if you are drag racing and launching the car hard on drag radials.

It seems that with most anything car parts related, about 3 companies make everything and it gets rebranded. My dad runs a shop and has said this is true for about 95% of most car parts. JAG parts? look into a ford catalog for example. I wouldn't be suprised if the cheapo axles were made by the exact same company.

hell, when my wife's fuel pump died in her nissan, I just swapped in an OEM wrx pump. nissan doesn't sell just the pump, they sell the whole assembly @ $500. walboro makes like 6 fuel pumps that cover every car

    Different part numbers from SUBARU.

    But they will interchange.
