APS Turbo Inlet Pipe

Does this require pulling the intake to install?

I am confused by this product. What is the point of a stainless steel inlet tube? I would think that it would be detrimental to the performance of the car, from a heat transfer standpoint. Anyone have one of these and datalogged the intake temps before and after installation?

I am not trying to bash a product that I haven't used, but I would think a metal inlet tube being placed directly over a hot engine would have detrimental effects, unlike the silicon Perrin/other aftermarket replacement, or even the stock inlet tube.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this matter? Please correct me if I am wrong.

even so, wouldn't you want the air hotter going into the turbo to increase spool up?

That's a good point, I was thinking the same thing.....

 

I suppose the main thing would be keeping it from collapsing, but other than that I don't see a big benefit.

 

not sure how diff from the perrin it is but i love my perrin inlet.

The entry to the APS Turbocharger Inlet Pipe that is outside the constraints of the inlet manifold is designed using a custom silicon hose with inbuilt bellows. This hose has an internal diameter equal to the external diameter of the pipe - for maximum air flow at huge power levels as well as delivering excellent Longitudinal flexibility to allow for engine movement on the engine mounts.
