boost upgrade?

    what is a good recommended boost to run after i get my ecbs on and get a retune on a stock turbo?

    17-18 should be safe. Check out what boost Cobb Stage 2 is for the STi. That will give you a conservative reference point.

    i believe the cobb Stg II target boost is 16.5

    You will need to taper the boost off to 16 by 6000 RPM. Otherwise, I would not peak more than 18.

    i still have all full warranties on my car..does anybody know if it will hurt the warranty to do this if i let scott siegel do it?

    Yep. It will completely void your powertrain, regardless of what anyone says. Any type of modification that increases the power output of the engine beyond 'as delivered' from the factory, voids the warranty. PERIOD.

    However, if the car is tuned PROPERLY...you will not have a problem with any kind of engine longevity. Period.

    A bad tune can ruin an engine in less than 1 second. All it takes is one good detonation event to bend a rod and send it on an escape route that punctures the block...that usually takes a head and some valves with it when the piston hits the top of the combustion chamber...so now you need 1 head, 4 valves, a shortblock, oil pan, oil pump, and sump tube.

    A 'good' tune will last for a while...

    The 'perfect tune' will last the life of the car.

    my car has been previously tuned..and i already have a few engine modifications..and i know for a fact my car is still under warranty at this point..i dont have any internal work and i have a stock turbo though..so that may be why

    I'm sorry, but if there is any engine related failure, and you go to 'any other random' subaru dealer, you will be denied any warranty coverage.

    There are only a select few dealers that would actually take the time to look into it and investigate the failure to see if it was a real factory defect or if it was due to the modifications.

    Yeah, don't fool yourself into thinking that if you blow something it'll be covered under warranty. Modifying a car is a fun hobby, but you HAVE to be aware that you are creating some risk that wasn't there before. If you can't afford or aren't willing to deal with the potential consequences of what you're doing then you probably shouldn't be doing it in the first place...

    Which is exactly why I do not recommend serious upgrades unless you completely understand what you are doing and how it affects your warranty.

    Take Milo for example: The only two warranty items he has left are the seat belts and the 5 year rust protection. Otherwise, his bumper to bumper is pretty much gone, and 100% of the his powertrain is gone.

    hahaha....yea no kidding.

    My short-throw shifter is under warrenty cause it was installed at SOG before i took delivery of the car and is on my invoice. woohoo!

    OH yeah, SPT parts and other parts that are MADE and DISTRIBUTED by SOA...has a limited warranty with it, and if you read the fine print...it either does or does not affect the current 3/36 and/or 5/60 warranty covereages.
