BOV rubbing on hood

    I poped my hood today and noticed some rubbing marks on the top of my HKS BOV and on the hood a little. The black part that goes inside the hood scoop is rubbing on it. Anyone think I have it turned the wrong way or something? Any ideas/suggestions?

    thats what happens to all HKS BOV's

    Never had that problem with my Forge BOV.

    hmm..i never had that problem when i had it phil..I had a FM though so it was positioned a little differently..

    Yeah, i plan on doing FM before too long so it doesn't matter that much. Its not running too bad, maybe I'll find some sort of heat proof sticky padding to put on it and replace every once in a while until i do that... Not a big deal tho :p...

    i have a hks bov.. same with me.. no problems it's made that way btw i'm taking mine off selling it on ebay, over all it's bad for ur turbo, if i was u and cared abt the car get more thinking done before taking hks off i heard and now know that it's bad for the car also poor proformance, also it's full air

    Care to share some technical information on why you say it's bad for your turbo? I've done a lot of reading and know atmospheric has been known to cause problems sometimes but I've experienced none of them.

    I am going to have to disagree with you :) . I have run 2 different %100 venting bovs on 2 different turbos with no negative side effects (unless you consider wicked fireballs blasting out of you exhaust negative but this happens to me even with the stock BPV). A BOV will eliminate compressor surge when changing gears. It will release excessive back pressure which is created when the throttle is closed during gear changes or deceleration. This is detrimental to the life of your turbo, installing a BOV will substantially improve this problem. Plus installing a BOV you can also significantly reduce turbo spool up time. Now does the stock BPV do all this..sure..But it has been my experience that an aftermarket does all of this better and it sounds sexier doing it!

    Thank you.

    Oh and about the fireballs haha, will they do it on a pretty much stock setup? I've caught a couple pops when releasing the throttle that I thought might have let out some fire...

    it could but probably not very often since you still have your cats in the exhaust and any excess fuel you have is more than likely burned up before it can ignite out the tail

    BTW, you can use some felt tape to help with the BOV rubbing issue.

    genya used felt tape to reduce the rubbing on the ic pipe for his fmic. it works great.
