Other than AVCS, what are the biggest difference between 2006 WRX cams and 2004 WRX cams? Are the 2006 cams more aggressive than the 2004 cams? I would think so. Are the 2006 WRX cams the same as STi cams? If not what is the difference.

I'm trying to justify getting some BC 272 cams vs just slapping some STi cams on my new build. I'm no longer shooting for stupid power and I will be sticking with a stock location turbo.....Blouch Dom 3.0r looks very promising.

I got STI cams just because they were only $150 plus shipping. STI cams have a higher lift than wrx cams. I'm not sure between the 06 and 04 wrx though.

I have 2 sets of STi cams already just sitting pretty. I'm like hmmmmm is it worth the extra dough for cams and springs/retainers if I'm only gonna push 450 hp?

But Liquidforce was running into a brick wall at the higher rpm's because everything was outflowing his heads/cams right? If you've got the money, and want the top end then why not. You can reuse your stock springs/retainers. Maybe some new valves if you want

I'm talking about should I use STi cams or get the 272's. I can get the BC 272's for cheap but then I have to get springs and retainers as well.

The bigger the turbo the more you'll gain with the BC 272's. But it's just that much more money

True. I'm most likely going with a Dom 3.0R or maybe the Dom 4.0R which is a GT30r/35R.

Stock location sleeper turbo FTW! I'm saving almost $1000 by not going rotated since I have everything else.

I have BC 280's in my car and it really wants to run when you wind it up. I don't know how the stage II's compare but my car is a biatch before it warms up. Almost undrivable. Just something else to think about. I'm only running an 18g right now so I don't really get too much benefit out of them but as soon as I get the money in the bank for PPGs or a new tranny I'm going huge.

Sti cams are higher lift and duration. Not a huge amount but some none the less, you will not see huge gains without port work though

So better to just go ahead and get the 272? Does the BC 272 hurt low end that much? In other words does it shift the power band to the right at all? I'm not after flat out power anymore....more the nicest street friendly wide power band I can get with what little I have.

    After this 2.5L goes I'm going RR1 ;)

Will those require springs and retainers as well? So that will help to fatten up the power band? Cam logic confuses me so I have a lot to learn.

Does not mention anything on any of the sites I saw. Oakos automotive has a write up on each of the Kelford cams and what they were designed for. Kinda pricey!

Delta cams can regrind your stock cams or the sti cams to whatever spec you want at only $125 a stick. That'd be a lot cheaper than the kelford cams. Or find some used Ver8 cams which some say are 264. They can be had for around $3-400. Kelford's at $1000 seem a bit steep.
