    Well i've got some free time this weekend and well i've been wanting a car...thus i've got to find some dealers. I know i think about 6 in Georgia, but i remeber a while back in NASIOC forums someone said one of the dealers do no allow test drives for 18 and under (or was it 21? dunno it was a while back). Does anyone know this dealer (thus to advoid it) or refer me to a better one? Ya...i would want a WRX as a first car ^_^;

dealers are more likely to let a younger person test drive a more expensive car with a parent present. I'm not sure about your age, but if you're only 15/16/17... you should take a parent if you want to drive something like and STi. That's how it was back home at least...

i took a parent and im 20 and some dealers wouldnt let me test drive, especially rick case mitsu said no when i asked to drive an evo. I know the STI would be a no go unless you are mid 20's. Suburu im sure would let you drive one though.

im 19 and so is kraut and we were both able to test drive a brand new evo just last week from rick case mitsunishi. i believe its all in how mature you are and if you tell them you are serious about buying the car. i was able to test drive a R32 golf when they first came out and a legacy gt when i was 18 i believe and i didnt not have a parent. i say you should go to subaru of gwinett, be polite be serious and i dont think you should have a problem with not being able to test drive.

Just be professional. They have no reason to refuse a potential sale.

Here you go. Just post up on this link,

    http://www.subaru.com/tools/testdrive/index.jsp?year=2005&model=IMPREZA&trim=WRX_STI_SEDAN

A dealer will call you to schedule a test drive with an STi. This is what I did and within 24 hours I got a call from someone at Classic to Schedule a test drive. This is also kinda how I met Porter, though I actually met him the previous year when I came to Atlanta on vacation to visit my sister. I was just driving around in Alpharetta one night and went to a tint place across the street from Andrettis, I look across the street at Andrettis parking lot and there where like 5 Subarus there. Porter, Matt and a bunch of other people I don't know.

Anyways, post on that link and they will call you. Doesn't even ask for your age.

meh, if you go in and tell them that you are actually looking to get a car they will let you test drive (if you're 16). Just tell them that ur dad is willing to spend X amount of money on a car, and told you to go test drive a few first. Wear some dressy clothes as well and they will take you more seriously (i.e. no emo pants or backwards caps)

    lol, milo.

I used to have 2 hrs to kill between school & work (home was not on the way). I test drove every f@#$ car on the market that quarter @ the dealerships between. I dressed nice w/ my IBM badge real prominent to get the corvette test drive though.

hmmm. hotwiring is another good way around it. I don't think WRX's have electronically controlled keys... remember disconnect the red and blue, then splice. easy as that.

I test drove a WRX when I was 15. He asked for my license, so I gave him my permit. He made a photo copy and we were off. My dad was there, but he was sitting in his car on the phone. It was just the salesman and me in the WRX.

Oh yeah, BTW, this was at Classic Subaru.

SoG wouldn't let my friend test drive the car he bought and he was 20 and with his parents so you may want to stay away from their even though they have a nice staff.

    from a dealers perspective

Look for a younger salesman, and talk to him...I know that when we had my car on the lot here, although it was used and this is not a subaru dealership, I took many an 18 year old out on drives in it (of course only about 2 miles or so round trip :naughty: , just in case). Most dealers it is 18 and up for test drives due to insurance regs. Just a salesmans 2c  .

Well i went to SOG and CLassic Subaru..Classic Subaru had an amazing deal but the car was sold during the morning when we got there...also had a nice used Blue Subaru for about 22,000. My dealer there was Josh

SOG was pretty big and dealer was Tony. He took me on a very very nice test drive...heh but we did get a price on him for a new 05' black Subaru WRX with $3000 options, which MSRP was 29,000 (ish) and THEN the we got 500 bucks off for some weird thing and then the manager knocked it down 1000 more for 26,860 dollars...AND MY MOM SAID NO. WTF MAN 26,000 (ish) was a GREAT DEAL (imo).

You can get it for cheaper. I've seen WRXs discounted as much as $4K. Classic Subaru has great deals towards the end of the month. A couple of months ago they had $3600 off, free oil changes and round trip tickets for 2.

Just be patient because you'll get a good deal on an awesome car and you'll be glad you waited. I almost settled for a Mustang LX because I couldn't find a WRX in our price range.

Keep in mind that the new body styles are coming out later this year so the dealers will need to get rid of the 05s. You also might want to check Royal Subaru because they have some brand new 04 WRXs left if you can believe it. (ex: 2004 Black WRX with 100 miles or something for $21K).

Also, do you think it will be better to get the new 06 style or just go with the 05 style?

i like the 05 style better but i believe the 06 will retain value better than the 05 one the new model comes out...

remember that the 06 is supposed to be a 2.5 liter :dirty:

my 04 wrx is on sale at classic http://www.subaruofatlanta.com/en_U...sc&web_id=subaru-classic&id=474396534&fz=true
SOG wouldn't let me test drive an STi when i bought my WRX. If they had i would have gotten an STi initially. Also SOG won't give me a loaner car eventhough my husband is 24 and i'm 23 with good insurance. Classic asked if wanted to test drive the sti but i had ridden in steven's sti (xnoodles) tons of the times that i didn't feel like taking it out, i just wanted to buy it. Ed voyles told me (when i was buying my wrx) that my husband and needed to a co-signer even though both of us had engineering jobs and good credit. I guess just go around and find who's gonna give you the best deal and work from there.

What the 06 is a 2.5 Liter? But i've read its basically a facelift with no major changes.

If the WRX is 2.5L, then is the STi still 2.5L?

Update: No i have not bought the Subie...just gonna wait for the 06 once

I've heard theres 3 WRX models, a TR, Normal, and Limited...its got leather now 0_o

    The 2.5L WRX makes 230 HP & 235 lb.-ft

The biggest technical upgrade to speak of has to do with the center differential, which changes the STi's power distribution from 35:65 front/rear to a more balanced 41:59. That increased power to the front is sure to increase this car's grip on the tarmac and gravel.

    So nothing that much different

i dunno if that will happen... i know a lot of people were upset when it released as a 2.5 since its not the same motor as the wrc car

Reminds me of a quote someone said

"I don't wear seat belts, lateral Gs hold me in"

    though flawed but still funny

But so i get a 5 Liter "upgrade" but only 3 horses? does is it mean i just get a de-tuned STi engine?

It is a smaller turbo and identical to the 2.5L in the forester rather than the STi. The leather option looks crappy, at least in the pics. You do get 2/4pot brakes which will be nice, the newer/nicer looking interior (same as 05 though), different seat color options (depending on external color) and the ability to buy the TR. Oh, not to mention 17" wheels standard and cooler (IMO) looking side skirts. If you don't want the Wagon and you know you will mod the car, go with the TR. It will save you money and a little weight. Still comes with RE92s though :wtc:

    More info:

I work in the parts dept at a Subaru dealership...and am always excited to see what the new model year brings...anyways..I just got my update for the parts catalog that includes the 06 WRX/STi stuff and wanted to share some findings with the community...

-Turbos on both the 06 Forester and WRX are the same part #, it is a TD04L

-Rear Brakes on the TR ( The 2 pots) are relativly inexpensive> Around $260ea for the Calipers. and about 80 bones for the pads...

-All 06 turbo ECU's are 4 plug (STi, WRX, Leg GT, and Turbo Forester) With all ECU's having a Immobilizer...

-06 STi Rear Diffuser is about $85 retail (got one on order to see if it fits the 05 Sti)

-06 STi Rear window Diffuser is about $450 Retail...and you will have to drill into your C piller

-Bolt Pattern on 06 WRX's are the same as before 5x100...with the STi and Tribeca having 5x114.3 ( so those that want factory 18 bling )

-WRX Heads are a different part # than the STi but have the same Valves from the STi.

-Same Cams in both the WRX and STi

-06 WRX's have a Air control valve...emmissions related on the top of the manifold.

-looks like the Plastic Intakes are gone for 06...(best that I can tell) and Subaru went back to Aluminum..

    - gear ratio on the WRX/ TR 5 spd is 3.70...and 4.11 on the Auto's

Thats all I know for now, Let me know if theres something specific you want to see is compatable..

    Bill
