I believe stock on the WRX is 2.5" or 2.25"

I believe most up pipes are the same diameter as stock(minus the cat), downpipes range from Turbo-xs's massive 4" pipe, to 3" or 2.5. Midpipe back are mostly 3" if you want to be really loud or 2.5" for performance gains/nice deep rumble without waking up the neighbors. I'm sure everything goes bigger by some company out there, this is just what I've seen....

the random tech i'm getting is apparently a 3". I was worried since i didn't know any better that this might be too big and cause more low end torque loss?

I don't think it should affect low end torque on a turbo car, somebody prove me wrong...

so i'm gonna be pretty loud with a 3" full exhaust? or will still having cats quiet it down considerably?

Then I would recommend a "quiet" exhaust. Evo2, Sp2, Hush, and Bliz Touring are all very quiet.

I have a full Stromung setup, 3" down, 2.5 from midpipe back and its fairly quite. Louder than stock but not loud enough to alert the authorities. I'm really happy with this set-up. So, I'd say, if sound is a factor I'd back it off to 2.5....

P.s...How are you going to have 3 cats with an aftermarket setup? 3 hi-flows?

if u are ok with the sound on mine, u can pretty much get any exhaust on the market... the helix+blitz combo is one of the loudest combinations available

i saw a big jump of sound from stock 3rd cat to stromung high flow cat. The sound is PERFECT right now. Don't wanna get any louder.

    my setup:
catless up -> 3" catless divorced shorty dp -> 3" highflow cat -> stromung catback

I consider my sound is quieter than milo's
