I have heard many different causes for this. I am new to the Subaru world. Do wrx's tend to do this? Do i possibly have a fuel injector sticking? The motor has a brand new block and everything has pretty much been replaced.
First Guess intake leak or bad rings honestly, but can be other less severe issues such as a leaky and or stuck injector.
I'm not sure to be honest - definitely try and PM kokopelli, slowwrx, ped (et al) or any of the speedshops in the community about it, TopSpeed, Forged or KillShot.
How do you know you have gas in oil ? Was an oil analysis performed ? your close - i can scan your ecu if you want
If it was rings wouldn't I be blowing smoke? I smell gas in the oil! Everything is stock but wheels and muffler!
Where do you do that? Is there any way to retune the ecu to factory and possibly reset the ECU If it is just running too rich?
Blackstone is most common but not the most accurate but its fairly consistant. DO you know its been retuned - maybe there was a reason for that. Yes you can get back to almost stock but not 100% Again how do you know your running rich ? do you have a wb02 ? none of your posts provided any description of a problem other than assumptions.
My problem is there is gas in the oil! I'm not making assumptions just throwing my thoughts out there so the experts( you guys) can teach me! The ECU has never been tuned! It's always been stock I was just saying maybe a retune might potentially fix the problem! That's all I mentioned running rich because there is some "popping" and slight backfire! Previously, I owned a s14 with an SR. When these characteristics happended it was usually running rich. I understand it's better to run a little rich than lean especially with a turbo also I know this is a Wrx not a 240 so that's why I am wanting to gain knowledge! Thanks for your replies!
where are you doing this smell test at? Did you recently change the oil? are you sniffing the filler tube? You shouldn't be able to fuel get into the oil unless your vacuum and fuel lines are mixed up.
sorry cant help you there, you can reset the ECU easily. dont need a retune to do that. If your ECU is corrupt there will be more issues than just "gas in oil". Im sure the dealership or the local shops can diagnose your "gas in oil" problem. Good luck
did you use a clean pan? could have been fuel in the pan. Im starting to sense that we are being trolled
It could simply be caused by running rich. All oil smells like gas somewhat after its been ran. That is just a by product of blowby, there is always going to be some blowby. Have you done a compression test? What parts are on the car? How long has it been since your last oil change?
Ummm gas is made from oil....lol. My car always smelled like gas and methanol when I changed the oil.

Id do a def leakdown and compression test as many stated. I only mention rings due to the fact that its possible they didnt seat properly and poster mentions its a new block.
