how close can I expect to get my new gauges to match the dash's blue hue? You're pretty much limited to bulb covers, right?

I just finished this today after 3 years of trial and error. Numbers and letters are white, Redline and "hot" and "empty" marks on their respective gauges are red, everything else is blue. :)

The only thing that I don't like about LEDs is that you can not dim them...

yeah, i thought LEDs can only dim by turning on and off rapidly, requiring special types of LEDs for dimmers...

you can dim leds with resistors. I also don't see why they would not dim with the factory dimmers potentiometer

My goal was to have a super integrated clean stock look to what I'm doing.

The guages I've got are full sweep, black background, orange need, minimalist font with a slight italics.

Those LED mods are neato, but I'm just trying to get the new gauges to match the stock wrx blue lights. :)

Well slap me silly...I thought that I researched this pretty throughly before I decided to sell my prosport guages...because those fuckers were WAY too bright! I thought that LEDs were either on or off.

Maybe this deserves a seperate thread, would someone care to explain?

Update: Nevermind, here is my original thread discussing the issue...there is plenty of explination in it. http://www.wrxatlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18458

I call the gauge lights blue because they're not green like my old Marantz amp or like an old muscle car gauge cluster. ;p

They're green for everyone elses intents and purposes. Lol

It can be done. My old subie has cheaper gauges that match the stock green nicely

They're green...but, the bulb condoms are blue-ish if not blue. The bulbs look yellow with them off. I might have a couple lying around you could test with.
