doug did a DB 20g (legacy gt style) with a perrin tmic, injectors and walbro for my wagon. this was added to my ecutek and pde up and downpipe...

    stage 2 was 252whp/310ft
DB 20g was 310whp/324 @ 16lbs target boost. heatsoak at any boost above that.

so after my boost leak (what we thought was a bad turbo was just the bpv).. here's whats coming after june 15th:

perrin intake, inlet hose, DB20g (wrx style) or SZ49, perrin fmic, perrin catback and a SMC meth kit... we'll see what happens... i'm hoping for over 400 to the ground if i do the sz49... :)

so was i. one thing thats great about doug is he saw that several runs soaked the engine and was careful... it looks like the legacy's dont do as well as a wrx with heatsoak. once that things hot, it will cool down the next morning!

keep in mind too, i picked out the turbo and setup not topspeed... live in learn. :)

good question..im thinking about the same 16lbs... which is im sure the top of the stock one. weird how the 20g at close boost created so much more heat. i think the perrin tmic is hard to cool once heated. thats what i used with the 20g.

the bigger ICs are harder to cool on a dyno when soaked... were they icing/spraying/blowing a fan on the IC?

i wasnt there but im sure they had the big ole' fan. thats why im excited about a fmic. oh, i decided to stick with the 20g and no sz49. i had a buddy ask me, "do you want to be a dyno queen or build a fun to drive car?".

    i needed that.... :)

i myself am deciding between which turbo to upgrade to... thinking between the 20g and the sz55... from what ive read, the 20g is faster in 1st and 2nd... they are both about even in 3rd and the sz55 is faster in 4th and above... i've ridden in a 20g+FMIC+meth car and it was phenomenal... havent been in a sz55 car yet

i talked to jerry at db today about the very same thing. funny! the 55 is nice. my 20g on the legacy wouldnt boost till 4200ish.. very late for a 20g. i'm thinkn its do to the comp housing for the legacy. it gave me a small feel of what a big turbo would "drive" like.

i think the 55 hits full boost around 4400ish. its amazing how late that is. before you know it, its time to shift. big numbers are big numbers though... im kinda looking foward to low spool. kinda the same "spirit" of a sti. when you pull that hard in 4th and 5th to pass a 20g, think about how fast your moving!

    +1 on the 20g and meth :)

check this thread out about the sz55 on the STi
    http://www.iwsti.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41477

full boost (~21.5 psi) by 3600 on pump gas :D... some people say this plot is incorrect since it seems to spool faster than ANY sz55 they have seen... but if this is true, then this is the turbo for me :D...

yeah, that does look like the perfect turbo. i wonder if all dynos of a 55 look like that? :)
