I need some info on headers.
I have a TBE and plan to get an up pipe and ecutek, not sure about a bigger turbo. Would I lose much low end if I put headers on with just my stock turbo. I know that the power increases are in the mid-high rpm range but I wasn't sure if it would hurt or help me at this time.
is there really any power loss on low end?
    any suggestions are welcome, thanks

you will see loss in low end. even larger turbo subies see some loss in the low end. but the mid to top is normally pretty nice. makes the highway really fun. some say header is a waste. some dont. its kinda 50/50 right now. genya has a header maybe he will chime in.

I will be one to say that changing the stock headers is not worth the cost. In terms of reliability and such, many of the top drag stis and such still run using stock headers on over 500 hp to the wheels. You dont need to change them; consider it an item you change way in the end, when there isnt much left to do.

There are only a handful of companies that make headers similar to stock (names are fleeting right now), but Im sure someone will chime on to that.

I was looking at gruppe-s and borla as they are both unequal length. wouldn't consider losing the rumble for extra 20hp. they are 4-1 design

well the unequals are cool... honestly, i would talk to siegel before you go sinking your money into a header.

like alex said it's usually one of the last things you'll do, if you even need to.

    [edit]LOL speak of the devil

I've read a bit about headers... the most positive comments have been from people who had theirs coated. The coated Gruppe-S ones or maybe a coatad MadDad system is what I would go with if I wanted headers. :) But I really don't see the value on a near-stock WRX.

well that's what I thought. Unless I'm going with bigger turbo the headers wouldn't do me much good. I will be content with my stockers. They are just so damn shiny, hard to resist

I like the new APS header, or the Fujistubo (SP?), If you listen to the sound clip at APS it does loose the boxer rumble, but doesn't sound like a civic. Personally I think it sounds real good, but I didn't get my STi for the boxer sound.
