helix dp

    how much horsepower gain am i looking at from getting a 3" helix DP+sti uppipe and run stage 2 on my AP over the stock 227 crank horsepower? o, i also have the sti axle-back, and no matter what ppl say, it did wonders for me. i`m thinking DP(+15) uppipe(+10) axle-back(+8-10), and AP (+15), so a total crank horsepower of 277 or a little less? hopefully my tranny will last; that's why my power mod stops here. I think it`ll be enough power for me, and it is probably a good limit for the stock turbo, and the tranny.

    ^ hehe, and i realize some of the horsepower figures up there can be hideous, so please feel free to correct me on how much power they would really make.

    Yeah, the power figures may be a little optimistic on the 2.0L, but only by a little bit...... maybe 30-40hp, a little more with a true TBE and/or a Protune......

    Yeah you can't exactly just add up horsepower like that. I'd say 260 to the crank would be a good estimate.

    And yes, as long as you're a decent driver your tranny should have absolutely no problems.

    If you are running a full 3" turboback stage 2 93 octane, on the cobb website, it says you will be running 285hp 290tq at crank, 225hp 230tq at wheels. This is extremely accurate as those were my exact numbers from the dynoday.

    There will be no problems with the tranny, but you have to replace the clutch. I will guarantee, running stage 2 by the end of the year you will be replacing it, especially if it is OE. I didn't really feel the power until I replaced it with a clutch capable of biting the extra power. I would also start looking at replacement bushings for tranny mount, engine, and diff.

    oo, that makes a lot of sense..even running stage 1, i feel like my clutch isnt enough now (i guess 90K mileage isnt very new either). man, i was thinking about doing springs, struts, sway bars and an alignment, but i guess i better do the supporting mods first before i break something.
